A few months ago, I have decided to do a road trip in the United States without knowing what I wanted to do. Well, nothing has really changed… Except the fact that today I am living this dream!

It has been a week that I have land on Florida where I decided to start my road trip. I have the chance to know some people who are living near Tampa and Orlando. That way I could sleep in an American house and I could discover the way of living in this state. While my friends were working, I discovered by my own and when they were not at work, they were with me travelling all around Florida.

When I was by my own, I did not have any car to move all around, so I stayed near my friend’s neighborhood. I walked on the calm streets and visiting some museums. But the thing that I prefer was seeing street artists. I could spend hours to watch them doing what they love to do, either music, painting, drawings.

When I was with my friends, I have done funnier things!

Of course, we went to Walt Disney World Resort, where we spent the day. I have never seen an entertaining park like this one. Every attraction is according a movie theme such as Harry Potter and Jurassic Parc. Moreover, those attraction are unique in the whole world.

If I remember well… I think it the third day, they made me a surprise! I was so scared. We took the car and we stopped at their former University. It was huge!!! They guided me though the hall, the library, and the gymnasium. Once we were outside, we saw that there was a football match. The first one I have ever saw!!! I though it was the surprise, but it was not! They took me to the Everglades National Park to see alligators !!

Yesterday was my last day in Florida. We went to the Kennedy Space Center because my mom loves astronomy and I had to bring her something back. The night, we ate together while looking at the surfers. It looked like if it was like a majestic dance. It was such a peaceful moment. I think I will never forget that.

It is currently 4am and I have not slept yet. On the morning, I’ll go to the bus Station and once there, I will choose another state to visit.

My dream has always been to do a road trip in the USA, particularly the west coast. So, I save money to organize this travel… I decided to start my trip to California. Why? Because I didn’t know where to start exactly. I took the plane and I am here 11 hours later… This morning, I went to the Golden Gate Bridge, an iconic bridge in San Francisco. It was huge, I learned that it is 1200 meters long. I cannot believe that I was on the mythical bridge of American movies! Since I was in San Francisco, I decided to visit a monument that I dreamed to see it in reality: the Alcatraz federal prison. I went to the island by boat and I could see the Al Capone’s cell who he lived there 17 years… It was scary…

For my second day, I made the trip up to Nevada to visit the Red Rock Canyon! It was so beautiful and gigantic, I remember seeing engravings in the red rocks, which proved an occupation by the Amerindians in the old days. I went a full day excursion, so I decided to have fun that evening by offering me a room at the Bellagio, a 5 stars chic hotel… I could listen to private concert of a small orchestra while dining it was wonderful and very soothing. Sure, my savings have quickly decreased this day but seeing the huge fountain light up at night was magical.

It is special because the water’s colour is green. This site was developed in 2010 to currently receive over 1 million of tourists who come to admire the spectacle that the nature offers us. Amazing memories, an old lady from my hiking group shed a tear when she saw a landscape like this. At the end of the day I visited Page, a small town in Arizona located at 6 miles from de Horseshoe.

It is in the Tularosa’s basin and surrounded by mountains where the wind forms a brilliant dune that my eyes have enjoyed admiring! It looks like the view did not stop. Oh yes! I almost forgot to say that I had crossed a small lizard, it was frightened by the group of people around him and it quickly ran, I did not see his colour… Our guide told us that the lizards melted into the background since they were white like the sand, he also showed us a print of coyotes in the sands.

It all started a few days before being on vacation, I was at home and I imagine going to the unknown I always said to myself that I was made for that, because I like discovering new things all seemed huge, and that's when I saw a television report where we were talking about the USA precisely in New York state, everything was so beautiful, that's when I decided to go there. putting money aside when I had my payment, several months later I received a call from a friend who told me that she too had seen this report and asked me if it was possible go together I replied yes because there were savings, and she said that we would go with her sister Coleen who had the same passion as me for photography, I was super happy to go with them.
It was then that it all started, Friday May 15 when we try to leave in the morning at the airport and we arrive around 4 am because we were gone around noon.
When we arrived, the first visit we had made after the hotel was Central Park, this place was beautiful, there were two ice skating rinks and even lawns for sports and outdoor games, I It is especially learned there that there was a 9.7 km long road, relatively little used by motorists, which surrounds the park. It can be used by pedestrians, long-distance runners, cyclists or even roller-skaters, especially on weekends and weekdays after 7 p.m., when car traffic is completely prohibited.
We left in the evening by Uber car because Reanna did not want to take the bus, we arrived in Virginia in the afternoon, where we were treated to a tour guide in the white house White House Visitor Center, we were first because we have VIP passes for the trip, we couldn't meet Donald Trump, too bad !!, but this visit will stay in my head.

Cassie

On 17th may, after my adventure in New Mexico, went to visit the state Texas’ capitol. The monument is in Austin the capital of Texas. This house is the offices of the governor and is also the seat of the legislature of the Senate of Texas. Its assembly halls were majestic filled with hundreds of dark wooden desks and an elevated “stage” surrounded by portraits of presidents of dormer ministers. We recognize the capitols thanks to their architecture. Indeed, the rounded shape of the main building roof was special with a statue at the top. I loved this outing because I learned a lot about the country and the architecture. Tomorrow, I will continue mu trip in Oklahoma in a completely different mood of outing…

All my life I’ve dreamed of making a road trip in the USA. I don’t know why but I’ve always been attracted by this part of the world. So today, I’ve decided to start this journey on my own and discover as many states as possible.

My first step was today, Florida, where I am right now. I arrived here this morning very early because I took the first boat possible to get there as fast as possible. On the boat, I met a very kind woman named Mary who gave me some useful tips to discover a lot of different locations and good addresses. She was a local.

When we landed, the first thing I did was to run to South Beach and buy an ice cream to watch the sunrise above the sea, and of course, it was just wonderful! After that I absolutely wanted to see the Key Largo’s barrier reef and It took me all morning. I stopped to buy a sandwich and went to Bonita Spring to do some canoe, it was very pleasant especially on the north part of the beach. And finally, after I walked all day, I took a taxi which took e to Little Havana for the evening, the Cuban side of the city, I really loved it, all the smells and the people were adorable, I danced a long moment with the inhabitants of this incredible neighbourhood. That’s it, my first day of this road trip, I’m now going to sleep because I am exhausted and tomorrow, let’s discover another state and new adventures!

Salomé

OH, the USA!!, one of my favorite countries were a lot of different cultures and beautiful landscapes abound. What better way to visit this country traveling from east to West in my all-terrain vehicle. I started this adventure on the state where it took place the first flight, North Carolina. During the first day I decided to visit the touristic Biltmore Estate, a giant mansion built for the millionaire George Washington Vanderbilt, after that I went to a more natural place and sleep there, in the Grandfather mountain, a beautiful mountain, one of the major chains of the Appalachian Mountains. It was really a good begin of my travel and I cannot wait to visit the next one.
DAVID

A few months ago, I decided to realize one of my biggest dreams: to do a road trip in the United States, and live day by day.
Two of my friends were also very keen on this project. Before leaving, we just had to choose the first state we wanted to visit. We quickly agreed on New York. We were so excited to be there!
The first morning, when we woke up, we still couldn't believe it. We decided to start by discovering Manhattan. It was wonderful! We discovered Time Square, picnicking in central park, walking around Broadway ... We observed the Chrysler Building and the Flatiron, two large business buildings. These skyscrapers around us made us so small! In the evening, we went to see a show on Broadway. At the end of this show, we met Italian students who had lived here for over a year. They recommended a lot of visits, including going to Little Italy in the evening. The next day, the evening, after the advice of the Italians, we went to Little Italy. The atmosphere immerses us in a universe resembling old Italian films. The days which followed, we continued the visits. Just looking at the architecture could have kept us busy for a whole day. That’s why we went to West Village. Everything was so beautiful! Brooklyn is also a borough that we really enjoyed. We discovered adorable little artist shops. Several nights we watched the sun go down from the Empire State Building, which made the city even more beautiful. After few weeks spent there, we started to know New York like the back of our hands! We even took these little cable cars which took us to Rossevelt Island. We tested the subway, the bus, and the cab. It is therefore after 32 days spent in this incredible city that we decided to continue our journey!

Pauline

In fact, the goal of my day was to accompany a group of children, I was kind of volunteers for many hours and after my job of babysitter I could do the rides that I wanted. This park was great for children because you can do lots of attractions but there were also a water’s activities like slides. It was so funny and pleasant to accompany these little monsters that run everywhere! After a tiring day I allowed myself to go shopping in Bricktown. It was impressive because at the entrance there was a giant baseball bat. I enjoyed this visit; it was very enriching. I come back to the state that I particularly appreciated: California, where I loved visiting the prison! Texas was also a great memory. So I decided to take the step and finally go to America and at the same time, make a road trip with my car !
So I arrived this morning at the port of Miami, I didn't waste my time and I went directly to Wynwood to visit this trendy area known for its street art. It was really beautiful and very colorful. Then I went to eat at the Santorini by Georgios restaurant. After my delicious meal I went to rest at one of the beaches of Miami Beach (South Beach). After that I went to the Everglades National Park. I got on an airboat and met many alligators, it was the first time I saw them and it was very impressing. Except for the many exotic animals in this park, it was very humid but the place was very peaceful. Finally, after this amazing day I went to Orlando to enjoy my "Best Western Orlando Gateway Hotel". For the next day, I planned to pass the day in Orlando, to go to ICON Park for visit "Madame Tussauds" wax museum, but also to the Universal Orlando Resort attraction park and to spend the end of the afternoon at the Lake Eola park before leaving in a new state.

Louisa

After this long evening, I look at my trip card is the destination, for the next stop, was in Florida, to visit since the time I dream of it, the palm beach, it was huge compared to that I’ve known before, I still remember when it’s hot and the water goes up to my umbrella,
after that we went, to please Coleen and myself, paid by Reanna, in a helicopter flight, to go around Miami, it was magical and in addition, I took incredible photos !! , like that of Mini Havana, which is a Cuban district in the heart of the city, it is even more improbable than building a mini-London in Paris, at the end of this flight, Coleen showed me these photos that she had taken so far is I found the most beautiful, that of the Statue of Liberty of fluorescent color, which she had taken in New York, I asked her, if we could then mix our photos, when she would load them ,

Then later, in the evening we found ourselves after Reanna went to a shop at Key West , to buy a souvenir for her mother, A t-shirt, "I survived the hurricane": there are everywhere in Key West in memory of a hurricane which occurred a few years ago and which left the island permanently marked!, in a restaurant where there is local food and other, at Calle Ocho, where I ordered a Cuban Sandwich - Sandwich made with ham, mostly cheese, assembled in Cuban bread. it was really delicious, and then as a dessert I was resonable and I took Cinnamon Rolls - Sweet roll with cinnamon. Reanna and Coleen both had take the same meal caused by the indecision of Reanna, a Burrito each who is of Mexican origin, but they are found all over the USA. It is a large wheat tortilla, with a filling that varies according to taste, but almost always rice and beans. and as a dessert, a Key Lime Pie - Dessert from Key West. Made with lime juice
Then to end this evening, as we were entitled, with the privilege of the travel agency, to go to attend a concert by Britney Spears with as guest of honor Madonna, I even took photos with them, had really great :).

Three hours that I lie on this bed and sleep cannot reach me. This is surely due to what awaits me at dawn. The big day arrives, and I am dying of impatience. It is the project of a life that comes true. Being able to hit the road, me and my best friend, in the jeep for which we have saved since our 12 years. I am here with the impatience that keeps me from sleeping so I write to allow me to remember everything down to the last detail. We are here in California the state in which we were born and where we live for 21 years. We meet again a few hours later, we stopped just before leaving the state. Which allows me to write, we did not stop. The departure was both full of joy and moving: our families and our closest friends were there to wish us a good trip and offered us things to remember them. Once in the car, the engine started and the last sign of goodbye made, the music station was switched on and the gps in which all our destinations entered. It was important to us to review the mythical places of our state despite it being inked in our memory for having seen and reviewed them. That is to say that we walked along Yosemite National Park and borrow the Golden Gate bridge. Raphaelle, my travel partner and I are sitting on the grass just under the sign that we are about to leave California. Neither of us went further than our whole life, so there was a feeling of stress there, but curiosity took over what awaited us.

My next step was Alabama.

The whole state is filled with the memories of its past and the will to remains peaceful. As it is the state where the civil right movement was born, there are multiple place in order to commemorate the activist and the victims of racism. It was in Alabama that the segregation was first illegal thanks to the fight of American African people often represented by Rosa Park and Martin Luther King. There are, all around the city, panels and arts about those figure. I passed by Martin Luther King house’s, but even if these is a lot of people in this small street, it is interesting to see where a figure like him spent his childhood. Something that I love about historical places is the ambiance: the feeling for peace is relaxing.

Of course, I couldn’t go to Alabama without going to the memorials. So I went first to the Civils Rights Movement memorial which is in honor to the 40 activists who died fighting for equal rights during 1954 and 1968. I haven’t spent a long time there even if the architecture is beautiful. Yet I have spent hours at the National Memorial for peace and Justice and the legacy museum which are situated on the same block. The memorial is made out of stones with the names of racial terrorism victims on it, as walls, floor or paths. I had the same feeling of peace and of respect that when I have visited a WW2 military cemetery.

Even if a was glad of the commemoration of those people who suffered, I have to change my mind of the atrocity that those people had been thought. So I’ve been to the Gulf shores where normally I could have done some activities but I came too late, so the only thing that I could do was watching the sunset.

May, 20th, here begins my road trip to the united states! From the west to the east! I’ve always dreamt to discover this huge country. Throughout this journey, I am going to try to go to non-famous or what could be called underrated places, so that there will be less tourists.

San Francisco, what a city.

After too many hours of plane, I’m here. Everything is catching my breath. There are so many things I want to see, to visit. People are quite different here. They seem to be living in a movie. They look relaxed, and open to foreigners. While I was quitting the airport to go near the centre, a few curious people asked me from where I was from. I guess my backpack and my hiking shoes are making me look alike the tourist cliché.

On my way, I spotted many restaurants, which, let’s be honest, gave me the want of eating. I went to a typical small restaurant, the decorations in it were amazing and the food, oh god, it was delicious.

I passed by China Town and here again, it seems like I’ve dived into another country, people made me discovered food from their country, I had much fun!

I absolutely wanted to take the iconic cable car, but I got lost into the city, which wasn’t a bad thing, I took the time to appreciate each new district I saw. Once I finally found it, I was relived and happy. The cons I guess was the numerous people that were here, we were all stuffed together, nevertheless it was quite a thing to live.

I ended up my day by ordering some food and eating it on a bench, viewing the bridge. Tomorrow, first glows of the dawn, I will go and get my rented car to pursue the freedom dream!

See ya!

It was a long way of nine hours. I met Jason, a backpacker. He was doing some stop. Right away, we became friends like we already knew each other. He was going to the same place as me and we spent the day together. When we arrived, we could not believe it. It is actually a small city, full of charm. It is famous because of its cliffs. This city appears to be the cliché of the small city we all see in American productions.

We had lunch outside, tough it was cold. We mostly hiked and tried to find the perfect spot, on the hills, to contemplate the city by night. It took us much time but it definitely worth it!

We sat into the trailer which was stuffed with pillows and plaids and just drank, laughed and talked all through the night. Early in the morning, we went to the botanical garden which is quite reputed.

I asked Jason if he wanted to continue this road trip with me as his plan when off. He accepted. We are now two on the road! You know how it goes, the more the merrier.

Anyway, I did not expect this to happen as my sociability level is approximatively equal to 0 or any negative figures! I’m glad to step out of my comfort zone. I feel free, as I never felt for a long time.

Am I going to meet new people?....

The second state we were going to visit was Florida! It is a totally different state from New York and even if we were a little bit sad to leave this wonderful state, we were so looking forward to continuing our journey!

The first thing that we noticed when we arrived was the sun! So, the first thing we did was going to the beach. But there was something I couldn’t wait to do. It was surfing, one of my greatest passions. Test it in Florida was an incredible experience. I joined a surf club and almost every morning, I surfed early. One day, I met a group of teens who lived there and who also shared my passion for surfing. They made me and my French friends discover Florida. We travelled in the car of one of them. We spent our entire trip together. We first saw The Everglades, a gigantic natural park where we crossed a subtropical swamp thanks to an airboat. We saw alligators, crocodiles, thousands of turtles, and all kinds of birds. It was just awesome! We went to Miami, where we saw Miami Beach, but we were a little bit disappointed because of the crowd of people who were there. Then, we went to Wynwood, a district of Miami where all the streets are tagged. Everything was colourful and beautiful! When we were on the road, we sometimes stopped to eat something. “Robert is here” was the perfect place, a must-see in Florida. They offer you fresh fruits, sandwiches but my favourite was sugar cane juice.

One of the most incredible part of our trip was the Florida Keys, an archipelago. Just the road to go there was incredible. It is a highway on the water, which gives us the impression of driving on the surface of the water. We left the car and rented bikes to visit the islands. We tested snorkelling, an underwater hike with flippers and observing the seabed was incredible. All the beaches were breath-taking, with the white sand and the turquoise blue water! Pine Island is another island we liked. I loved getting lost in the streets filled with houses from the 60s and 70s with hippie styles.

We couldn’t not go to Orlando. There it is where our trip achieved. We had just spent a week at Walt Disney World Resort. We went in the 4 parks: Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park, Magic Kingdom Park, and my favourite Epcot.

After having visited Florida from top to bottom, we had to continue our journey. Having to say goodbye to our friends was quite difficult but we knew that this trip would be memorable in large part thanks to them.

So, after my step in New-York, I decided to go in Pennsylvania, and more specifically in Philadelphia, the largest city of this state. When I arrived in Philadelphia, after many hours of driving, I was already exhausted but I visited the city anyway. Firstly, I went to see the Liberty Bell, it's a symbol of freedom so I tought it was obvious to me who is doing a road trip to see this bell. I have no sense of direction so what had to happen happened: I got lost. I ask to an old lady where was the LOVE sculpure, the next thing I wanted to see. This lady called Margaret was very kind, she came with me so I don't lose my way again. In the way, we stopped to eat a Philly cheesesteak, a speciality, I payed for her to thank her. After that we went to the LOVE sculpure, it was beautiful! Margaret offered me a drink at her place and I accepted, but I didn't see the time go by and it was late when I left! So I didn't visit all the monuments that I wanted, but I don't care because Margaret was one of the kindest old lady I have ever met! Tomorrow, I will go to a new state.

I've already been to New Orleans and that's where I met Molly, more precisely in Bourbon Street because she was part of a small jazz band. She also offered accompany me to a few places in the state. But long before my arrival in Louisiana, I spent two days in Georgia. I went to visit the "World of Coca-Cola" museum, it was very interesting because I learned a lot about the history of Coca-Cola and the Coca-Cola Company. I also went to visit the Georgia Aquarium which is absolutely wonderful ! There are so many different species and so colorful, I was impressed. The last day in Georgia I went to the Rock City Gardens and immediately left for Louisiana via Alabama. Unfortunately I broke down with my car in Montgomery, so I went to the nearest garage and in the meantime I went to visit the Rosa Parks Museum. When I returned to the garage, I spoke with the mechanic and to my surprise, it was a french who had lived in Lorraine !
The next state I think to go to Texas.

I am continuing my trip to Arizona, I have just arrived in Phoenix which is the capital of Arizona. It is extremely hot there because this city is surrounded by the desert. In this city I visited many museums and zoo and I also got to know its inhabitants. I even met a tourist guide who made me visit the Sonora desert which is just next to Phoenix. After this short stay in this city, I took the bus to go to Tucson, to go there we had to cross the Sonora desert. Tucson is also surrounded by the desert but also by mountain ranges. That is why during my stay there I hiked in the mountains, I climbed in particular on Mount Santa Catalina. I had to take the bus because my trip to Arizona was coming to an end and I had to go to a new state.

Yes, it has been a long time since I didn’t write my journey down, I am going to think about everything I did since Florida and continue to tell which spots I visited. So, one day after Florida, I decided to stop in Alabama. It has always been a really inspiring place for me so I was so happy to stop there! At first, I decided to rent a car in each state I will visit because after my long walks all around Florida, I was so exhausted! So after I did this, the first thing I did was to pass over the Alabama’s Natural Bridge which was absolutely wonderful because it was so resourceful to see all that nature.
After that I stopped by one of the most famous country singer of the stats, Hank William’s old car, were he was found dead, a beautiful sky blue Cadillac. I didn’t knew him very much but I still felt sad because in the atmosphere, you can feel that he was love and is still regretted.

I was starting to get hungry at this point so I stopped by a typical place, the Rattelsnake Saloon, it was just breathtaking, just like in the movies! The food was so good and the waiters and waitresses were just adorable and so caring. I really felt welcomed. The tables are on the outside and you are eating in a hole surrounded by walls. So original I loved it!

At the end of the day, I just wanted some fresh air and to see the beautiful sea, so I searched where I could stop and I found a place that seemed really perfect, the Gulf State Park Fishing Pier, a long bridge where you can do a really pleasant walks with the water all around you and the cold wind, a perfect spot to watch the sunset on the sea. I really recommend it, a well deserved break!

After the Appalachian Mountains, I went to the cradle of Blues music, the state of Tennessee, a small state situated in the southeastern and delimited by eight states! The first thing I did when arrived was to taste the famous Memphis style Ribs, some delicious ribs dipped in a paprika sauce, I really cannot describe the flavor, you must taste it by yourself! After a pleasant nap, the hotel’s concierge told me that I could not go without having visited the Beale street, a famous street situated in Memphis, which is full of Blues clubs and typic restaurants from the 30s, but most of them are touristic places and not the originals, it was a very great day. The second and last day I did a tour in Elvis’s house called Graceland by the ancient proprietary, it was an honor to visit the tomb of the King. I am surprised by all the things that Memphis is famous for.

The journey began as soon as we flew to Frankfurt, Germany. The fourof us went away as a family, my mother, my father, my brother and me. Wewent there for a month to meet our whole family who lived in different places. Our long journey began in Houston, it was very hot, the air was humid, butas soon as Marc came to pick us up at the airport, we immediately jumpedinto his big Pick-up to reach their huge house which had a very large pool.I was really very hot and the seven flight hours had totally tired me, wearrived in the evening so as soon as we arrived at their place, we ate andslept. For the first time in my life, I was able to attend a baseball game, Iadmit that I did not understand anything about the rules but the stadium washuge and air conditioned, what was funny is that there were French peopleright in front of us and we had a little discussion with them.I brought back some memories of this game including a baseball batand a glove and a ball. In the United States, everything is different fromFrance. For example, we had started a barbecue party with friends aroundfive o'clock in the afternoon, but it was already over at eight o’clock. That is, after their work, people don’t go home to change, they go straight tothe party with their clothes on, which is why I saw a friend of Marc’s who wasstill in hospital clothes. There were also French and I could play in the poolwith another girl it was really great.Marc has three houses, a ranch, one on the edge of a lake and his in town.We had the opportunity to go to the lake, it was huge. That same evening,we took his boat and made the towed buoy. The water in the lake was veryhot but it was nice to set foot in it. We spent the end of the afternoon on theboat and that evening, Marc offered to drive the boat and I really liked it.Then, a few days later, we went to Nasa, there was like a museumabout its history with high-tech objects and a huge air of play for children. Itwas really interesting. Then we went to Boston to visit the other cousins. We visited the whole city and that day I still drove a boat and not just anykind of boat. It was a boat-bus, that is to say it had the shape of a bus buthad a boat hull to pass from the road to the water, the feeling was strange Iwas afraid that one would sink to the bottom of the water as in «Titanic».
The driver offered to people who wanted to try to drive the machine, I asked to try and he guided me. By some miracle I didn’t sink the boat! We also visited a typical old American kindergarten, I met a teacher and visited the school, there was wood everywhere and the tables were just wooden desks
with benches.
The children had a small chalk board to work on. Finally, the last trip is to Denver, my favourite because we were in the middle of nature. Peggy and Dave’s house was so high up that I had trouble breathing sometimes. They had animals and on their terrace had a jacuzzi with views of the mountains
and the forest was splendid!
There we had climbed on real rock, I was a little afraid of the void but the landscape was worth it. That morning Peggy made us some delicious pancakes with maple syrup on top, a delight. To close this beautiful trip, we went to sleep one night in a campsite where wild bears lived, there was a police car running around the campsite to check that there were no bears.
Our food had to be stored in metal lockers and not in tents so as not to
attract bears. The next morning, we saw a footmark of a bear near our tent.
The campsite was located near the Sand Dunes and we had been there just before going to sleep, there was a lot of wind and the sand was going in our eyes we had to wear sunglasses to protect ourselves there but the view was beautiful and Dave took beautiful pictures of us.
This trip made a big impression on me and it is one of my favorites, I hope to go back there next year which is very likely.

I still cannot believe I’m in the united states. I have discovered how much I loved to be on the road, just listening to the vibes of the music and seeing all the world around me tripping and changing as the wheels are hitting the ground. It is just so satisfying.

As we were reaching Whitefish in Montana, the weather drastically changed into the cold. We even had to stop into a shop to fetch some hoodies and beanies. We talked a lot on their way, we got to know each other and how we got here. For what concerns him, he has reached a midlife crisis even though we are still young, you know society… He is full of good intentions for his life and well-being, I think he wants to prove himself that he exists for something beyond the success of his company.

For me, I think I’ve come to this point too. I just wanted to change the air I was breathing, I felt to be drowning in my daily life. I needed to see what the real world beyond a screen was. I must say the real world is a 100% better than social medias or television whatsoever.

Anyway, I think I fall asleep for some time because I woke up the car was stopped in a dinner in the middle of the city. I literally choked when I opened my eyes. The view. I have never seen anything comparable to this. This city is remembering of every Christmas movie that goes on the tv on December’s afternoons. Nostalgy.

We had lunch; I say this every time but it’s important right?

After what, we went to see the lake. It was a cloudy day, still, it was resourceful. Plus, the place was quiet. We even went on a small boat; it was fun and scary at the same time. I was living the moment and it was great, I felt so free.

Our next stop was the flathead national forest park. I’ve never been to that kind of places before. I learned that people were attached to nature here as they are living in a small city, they say they are the lungs of huge American cities.

Tomorrow’s step will be Chicago, I can’t wait!

Third Step: Chicago Illinois READ

Hey there! Welcome to Illinois!

Did you know that this state concentrates nearly more than 1/ 5 of the American population!

It is constituted of 102 counties. The capital of this state is Springfield, but Chicago is most known.

Anyway, while passing by through this state, we discovered that it was reputed for the crimes that occurred in the twentieth century probably. We saw so many guided tours that goes like “on the path of the killers…”

I have a terrible sports culture, but I support the Chicago bulls (in basket). I hope we’ll have the time to see one match.

Oh, I almost forgot!

It is actually the first city since San Francisco to have the beach!

The weather is nice, not too hot but not too cold you know what I mean?

I absolutely wanted to have a picnic on the beach no matter at what time of the day. We finally went on the arrangement that we’ll watch the sunset on the beach before heading up to Springfield. I was glad.

We tried to schedule our day, but we are way too indecisive and inorganized. We discovered the city based on our feelings and vibes.

We accidently went on this famous square at the centre of the city with the cloud sculpture, actually, it looks more like a bean than a cloud, but I respect the artist perspective.

While turning around there we spotted a sort of box made of glass at the top of a skyscraper and we wanted to go there which we did. It took us half an hour to find the name of this place on the internet so for your culture know that it is called the Skydeck.

We queued for an eternity as we didn’t realise how touristic this place was. The feeling you have once you are in this box of glass suspended in the emptiness is strong. I have no other words to describe it. However, you are allowed to stay there for over a minute and it is expensive so I wouldn’t recommend it, this experience was interesting but not worth it.

After the first disappointment, we wandered down the streets of the living city. A man accosted us, he said he was managing a YouTube channel and we played a game. He asked us questions, if we responded correctly, he would give us free tickets for a baseball match! We are competitive so of course we wanted to play. Guess what, WE WON!

We spent the night into this iconic stadium which is named the Wrigley field.

The ambiance man, it was a thing, you cannot find such an infatuation in France. Have you ever tried those matches food like the buckets of fried chicken paired with alcohol or sodas? Well you should at least once in your lifetime.

We quit at the end of this amazing game, our stomach being full, and us being euphoric.

We decided to go and get some sleep in the chest of our pickup. I was quite scared to be robbed as we were sleeping outside if I may say. Luckily, we were not.

We woke up early and watched the sunset on the beach, eating our breakfast.

Let the adventure continues…. See ya in Springfield people!

READ It was my turn to get behind the wheel. We had just waited for Arizona when Raphaelle opened her eyes again. We had planned to visit the Antelope Canyon and more fun to go to the Big Surf water park but as nothing ever happens as planned the water park was under renovation and despite the help of gps we did not manage to find Antelope Canyon. After many hours on the road we needed a break so I stopped at a petrol station. We took the opportunity to buy something to refuel and seek advice from the seller to find a place or go despite the late hour so that a place can mark our minds.

To continue after Illinois, I went to a legendary place where cowboys reigned, the state of Texas, a large state located in the south and next to Oklahoma and New Mexico!
The first thing I did when I arrived was to visit the mall, the Galleria of Houston, which is the favorite of locals and visitors to the mall. It is the largest commercial metropolis and the entire state of Texas. Located in an area of great commercial activity and surrounded by restaurants, hotels, offices and residences, the Galleria of Houston is a must for tourists arriving in the "city of space", because last night I had spots on my last clean clothes and I needed new clothes to go to the museum so with Reanna and Coleen, to find my new clothes, and that's where they both fall on the same dress they liked, that they almost fought each other, so I intervened by showing them that it was not the last article because I went to ask the cashier if there were any left and she gave it to me, which is good in this shopping center is that there was everything, so I liked a pair of silver boots and skinny pants then a t-shirt and a jacket to make an outfit, I liked them as soon as I saw them.
Then, after paying, we went to the museum on route 66, we found ourselves face to face with cars hanging in the air that Coleen thought it was a car accident that had occurred, that she had come down to take their pictures and that's where Reanna who was driving to look at her GPS map and understood that it was actually an essential stage of Route 66 in the United States: next to the highway passing by Amarillo (Texas), you can have a curious encounter: Ten Cadillacs half buried and full of graffiti. That I decided to take out an aerosol paint from the trunk that I bought at the mall that was glittery pink and I wrote our names on one of these cars and we left, it would have been the rebellious moment of our trip but we
We would still be sorry if we hadn't stopped for five minutes.
I explained again to Coleen on the shock that it was an initiative of a group of artists from the 70s who transformed the place into a place of pilgrimage for tourists, who can also participate in "work". She caught her breath and thanked me,
we continued on our way and took the road to the museum when we arrived, I entered and I said to Reanna and Coleen,
If I say Houston, I'm sure you think ... "Hello Houston? We have a problem!". '' It's not for nothing! NASA has one of its main centers in Houston, Texas. A center specializing in astronaut training and shipbuilding. It has been fitted out to welcome visitors; it's almost like a covered amusement park! Toy train, 3D cinema, simulation etc. It was for me an exciting visit of at least half a day.
After this beautiful outing, I came home to take a nap, the mother of the house in which we live told me when I woke up that she was happy to welcome us and her daughters, I felt like in the '' Beijing Express '' '' show, with all these emotions and adventures that we experience in one day.

❤ ❤ ❤
/\___/\
\____/

After leaving Arizona, I arrived in New Mexico which is also a very hot state. Except that this time I only visited one city, Santa Fe which is the capital of New Mexico. At first I visited the streets of this magnificent city where I could notice that some monuments had Spanish architectures. Secondly, accompanied by people taking the same bus as me since the beginning of the trip we went to a spa which is the specialty of this city. After I took the bus but we did not stop in another city, we just went to the white sand desert which was incredible because I have never seen anything like it. This little getaway over, the bus resumed the road to another state to discover.

So, for the third step of my road trip, I continued on my way to Ohio. I decided to spend my day on the Cuyahoga Valley National Park because in my two first steps I went to big cities, now I want to take a little break in the nature. When I arrived in the morning, I began to hike. The nature was beautiful in the morning, and very calm so it was very relaxing. I saw a lot of birds, but I haven't been able to identify them, because they were too fast. After eating, I learnt that it was possible to canoeing, and I never did that in my whole life, so I decided to try because one of the goals of my road trip is to experimente new things. I didn't regret trying it was so fun! When I will come back to France, I will surely do canoeing with friends, because I have a really great memory of this activity. I did a lot of sport today, so now I'am going to take a nap before the sequel.

After a few days in Louisiana, I went to Texas. This state has always attracted my curiosity because of its many deserts. I arrived the first day at San Antonio River Walk to relax a little since the beginning of this road trip. I went shopping, something I hadn't done since my arrival in America. I bought some souvenirs and then I left on my way to Big Bend National Park. It was a very long road but I was not disappointed to have done so many hours for this place. This place is just beautiful and huge, it's really a once in a lifetime experience, moreover, there was a small group of French tourists and I spent my time with them during this amazing visit. The night quickly fell and I hadn't planned to do anything else, so I drove my car into the Chihuahua Desert and stopped to install my tent. So I spent the night in this famous desert. During the night, there were strange noises and I couldn't fall sleep right away, so I wanted to get out of the tent to breathe some fresh air and I saw a big mass moving, I approached to see what it was and to my surprise, it was a prairie dog. I wanted to take a picture of him with my phone but he got scared and ran away. After this little find I went back to my tent to sleep.

My next step to my American is one of my most wanted stop : Louisiana.

I have decided to spend almost a week in this state which different activities by opposing city and countryside.

I have spent the first five days in Louisiana’s most famous city : New Orleans.

I arrived late in the night, so I went right away to the Inn that I’ve booked a few days ago. The ride to the inn was probably the most peaceful ride that I had. It last half an hour but the taximan was so lovely ! His name is Mike and he is a local, so he told me stories about the landscapes that we have seen during our journey together. He always had something to say about every places, buildings, and avenues. That way, I learn more than I thought I could learn about Louisiana in only 30 minutes. After that ride, I thanked him for giving me a ride to the Inn. Once there, I met the adorable lily who is the Inn’s Owner. She is one of the sweetest person I have met during this trip… I mean who would wait until midnight to see a complete stranger? Every morning, she brings me breakfast and took the time to talk with me a few minutes. She asked my how the past days have been, and she gave me some advices for the activities that I wanted to do.

During the fives days in New Orleans, I’ve hanged out a lot in the French Quarter. It reminded at bit home but not too much because this city mixes different origins : Americans, French, Asians… we can find this diversity in New Orleans thought the food. The only thing that I didn’t like is that we eat a lot of fish in this state, and I am not really into it… There is a French quarter which is the oldest quarter neighborhood because the French was the first conqueror of New Orleans, we can see some similarities with France thanks to Architecture. When I was walk down, I saw some beautiful buildings with iron balcony. I also saw some picture of Mardi Gras in the bars. I knew that it is a very famous event around here, so I am disappointed that my trip does match the right date of Mardi Gras. I went to well-known places such as Bourbon Street, North Rampart Street, Decatur Street and Royal, where you can hear music, Jazz everywhere, see beautiful and historical buildings, restaurants, shopping art galleries. You can also see voodoo stuff at most of streets corners. Everything in this neighborhood bring your sense to life! I love the way you can walk anywhere you what, there is always something to see! Once I Got lost and I have found a huge park called Louis Armstrong Park. I walk though it… well… I tried because I saw some very good musicians and I honestly think that I have spend a few hours just seating in the grass next to them. I saw fountains, trails a huge statue of the jazz legend Louis Armstrong and some plaques explaining the history of this place: the Africans Americans used to socialize here before the gain of freedom.

I have spent the last day on the road to the next state. However, I still did some stops at plantations such as Laura Plantation in Vacherie or the Rosedown Plantation. They both offer a few to the 19 or the 20th century by showing the way of living of the time, the furniture, the gardens and the relationship between owners and slaves.

The next state we were going to visit was Texas. But we didn’t find cheap bus tickets. So, we had the wonderful idea of testing hitchhiking. I admit I was scared at first but that made the adventure even more exciting!
We waited a long time to find someone who could drive us to the destination, or even on the way. After two long hours, we found our driver! She was a mother, who was returning home to Louisiana after a week of work in Miami. We talked a lot along the way. We explained our trip to her, and that nothing was planned. She told us about her children and she even stopped the car to show us pictures! But once arrived in Louisiana, we had to find another car quickly because night was starting to fall. The mother kindly offered to sleep one night at her house because at this time, we would never find a car. We went to her house, and met her husband and her three adorable children. The next day, the two parents asked us to stay at home for a while, and we thought that after all, visiting Louisiana could also be very good. So that’s how we ended up there, in Louisiana for 15 days.
We saw a lot in just two weeks. First, we absolutely wanted to visit plantations. We saw many pre-war plantation houses and we even visited one: San Francisco plantation house, which is very pretty with its blue facade.
We also went for a walk with the children in the French Quarter in New Orleans, which was very nice and reminded us our country that we had not seen for several weeks. I really liked seeing the Napoleon house, the Ursuline convent but especially the Preservation hall, where we could listen to jazz. It’s a very festive neighborhood with music echoing everywhere.
Kayaking in Bayou is something I will remember for a long time. It was magical to navigate through the wilderness. Besides, we stopped at Avery Island, a salt dome where Tabasco was born. We learned a lot about this sauce.
One weekend, the mother decided to take us to Lafayette, the capital of the Cajun country. The atmosphere was very festive, and the Cajun culture was there.
During these few days in Louisiana, we discovered an incredible family, to say the least unexpected in our trip.

After this trip to the home of this happy family and this long evening around this long meal, I woke up in the morning to take the train at 7:00 am, accompanied by my two teammates, to go to the state of Minnesota, I had heard that there were superb sculptures in the sculpture gardens of Minneapolis, a 4.5 acre park near the Walker Arts Center, which looks after the garden in collaboration with the Parks and Recreation Committee of Minneapolis. The garden is one of the largest urban sculpture gardens in the United States, with 40 permanent works and a number of temporary pieces exchanged periodically. And we were able to recognize the central part of the garden, the famous fountain "Spoonbridge and Cheery" designed by the couple of sculptors Claes Oldenburg and Coosje van Bruggen.
When the voice of the station intercom started to speak, I got on the train and took the first place on my left when I entered
During the whole trip, the girls told me about the Pipestone National Monument, a site where visitors to the center are welcome. and we even spend a film there which allows you to discover the origin of the place and the history linked to the Indians. A small path also allows you to see small quarries still active. And all this for an access which is charged 7 dollars.
When we arrived, we went to visit the International Wolf Center, which was very interesting to learn more about wolves.
then we continue with another Paul Bunyan and Babe the Blue Ox statues exhibit site, and that's where Coleen took out her camera the most because she told me she was inspired and passionate ; after our exit; from this long visit, we order in the best restaurant. After eating, I learned that it is possible to rollerblade in town and I haven't done it for a long time, so I decided to start again because one of the objectives of my road trip is to have fun
It has been a short day, but I have learned new things about this impressive state and its secrets.
Reanna, she preferred to walk around Lake Nokomis, which is one of the many lakes of Minneapolis, named after Honored Nokomis, grandmother of Hiawatha, hero of the poem `` The Song of Hiawatha '', ideal for a family afternoon and enjoy a picnic, exercise or just relax.
because she didn't want to hurt herself by falling like she didn't.
After all this, we went back to a rental unit for the three of us and went to bed a little later at night, we heard wolves howling that we had looked outside and we had seen a wolf, I took a photo for my souvenir album and I stroked it and I saw who had a necklace with Amarok written on it, and I said it must have been the wolf of a country shepherd, when I called girls, he left and I came back to sleep thinking of seeing him again another night.

See Ya , See you Soon......

I have just finished my journey in Texas! The different rides to arrive and leave the state were long because I took the bus and it was really hot. I had the impression that I was melting behind the bus’s windows. As it is the state of cowboys, I have decided to live in a total immersion in a ranch and it is probably the best decisions I have made so far in this trip! I have done a bush of activities out there such as horse riding, lasso lesson and the famous Texan barbecue! This ranch is a family business, so all the members were taking care of a special activities. The older son was back from college during the break, and as he is the same age that I am, we became really good friend. So, his parents offer that he could help me discover the state.

He took me to a dance hall. It was awesome!! I felt like I was the movie “Footlose”. I teach me how to dance as they are dancing in Texas and probably how to dance at all… our rode trip took us 6 days. I have seen thing I couldn’t have seen anywhere else or it would have been the same… I have seen my first rodeo!! I mean, at the ranch I tried to do the lasso thing, but it is not the same when you see professionals doing it like if it was the easiest thing to do! Of course, I was also impressed by the “real” rodeo : standing on a wild horse more than 8 seconds… it’s long!! I’d be too scared just to sit on it. Afterward we took the road, going through a lot of ghost cities or with not a lot of inhabitants. Sometimes I even expected some rolling dust like in Lucky Luke. While this long ride, we took some stops such as Cadillac Ranch, Hamilton Pool Reserve and Big Bend National Park. Cadillac Ranch is a famous stop form the 66 road. It is a place where we can see ten Cadillacs half buried and we can paint them. So, we bought a spray and we spend a several minutes, leaving or mark, feeling like criminal but still knowing that it wasn’t illegal. Hamilton Pool Reserve is probably the thing that I have preferred. It as a natural Pool created a thousands of years ago. Now, it is a meld rushing waterfalls with a shallow blue swimming hole. There is even a pool cavern. We have spent a few hour there watching the area and playing in the water. We were lucky enough because we could go on the water and it is not allowed every day. It depends of the water’s quality or something like that… our last stops was the Big Bend National Park. I had the impression of travelling while staying on the same Park, there is everything : canyons, rivers, desert wildlife. Obviously, we hiked. And, as we went there on the afternoon, we stayed until the sunset. That way, we have seen wonderful landscapes with great lighting. Afterward, we got home, if I may say. I spend the last night in the ranch and the whole family took me to the bus the next morning.

Today I arrived in Texas. First the bus brought me to Dallas. There I visited the Sixth Floor Museum which commemorates the place of the assassination of American President John Fitzgerald Kennedy. After this short stopover, I arrived in Austin, the capital of Texas. I walked the streets of this city, I could see the famous campus of the University of Texas and I even met some students. With them I even went to a country concert because it is not forgotten that the city of Austin is known for its musical scenes. After, the final destination of this trip to Texas was Houston. When we got there I found it to be a very big city. I was glad to be there because I was able to go to a NASA exhibit at the Space Center Houston. Except that after that I have to leave to continue my road trip in the United States.

After going to Louisiana, we wanted to explore the northern United States. We opted for North Dakota, a state we knew very little about.
When we arrived, we immediately loved the atmosphere. It was splendid! We were surrounded by breathtaking mountains. This trip promised to be calm and restful because honestly, I felt very tired. I didn't think a road trip was so tiring! However, I refused to spend my time sleeping to make up for my lack of sleep.
From the first day, we went to rent a car, which would allow us to travel as we wanted. We went to see right after Mount Rushmore and the Crazy Horse, which were just as beautiful as I imagined.
During this stay, we saw many museums which were very interesting. Among those we saw, my favorites were the National Buffalo Museum, which show the history of the bison and displays objects from the Plains Indians. The little extra: It is located in a wooden chalet, which immersed us completely in the universe. I also loved the North Dakota Heritage center and State museum, which traces the evolution of this state.
We also drove a lot and just looked out the window at the wild landscapes. I think we could have spent hours admiring the immensity of these mountains.
One of my favorite places to rest was Thedor Roosvelt National Park. I loved the view of the Painted Canyon, where we could see the moutains with wild bison.
To continue learning more about the state, I visited the Scandinavian Heritage park, which commemorates the Scandinavian pioneers who helped shape North Dakota.
To immerse ourselves thoroughly in this culture, we obviously taste the specialties: the “Dakota Kuchen”, a kind of various fruit tart, the “Cream of Wheat”, cream of wheat or wheat, generally consumed at breakfast, the "Knoephla Soup", made with onions, celery and chicken broth and many more ... The restaurateurs were amused watching us when we ate, because the surprise could be read on our face!
At the end of this stay, I was refreshed, happy to have discovered a new culture, we were ready to move to another new state!

My next step in New Mexico.

At first, I didn’t know what I could do out there because we don’t hear much about this state. And as I stayed only three days, I had to choose what I wanted to visit. I choose three stops, one for each days. As I arrived from the south, I stated with the White Sands National Park, in Alamogordo and then I headed Nord, passing by the Blue Hole, in Santa Rosa and Ra Paulette’s Hand’s-Carved Caves.

White Sands national Park looks like a snow desert ! this place has been created thank to the evaporated water of a lake. The wind has transported the sand and here is the beautiful landscape that I had the pleasure to see. I followed a group of hikers and the guide told them that this place is the home of some rare species such as Bleached Earless Lizard or kit fox.

I only could stay a few minutes to Santa Rosa’s Blue Hole because our car had an accident and we were late on the schedule. However, I was astonished by the watercolor, I have never seen a such pure water!! As it is near the road 666, it became famous very quickly and a scuba diving spot but after the death of two divers, the entrance to the cave has been forbidden.

The last stop was Ra Paulette’s Hand Carved Caves in Lamadera. Ra Paulette is a New Mexico artist which carved 14 different caves. I can’t even describe it because no two of them are alike. Moreover, the feeling of peace when you are in those places is unbelievable.

Let’s go Oklahoma!

The fourth step in my trip was Oklahoma, a large state situated in the middle south of USA with great plains, lakes, and woodlands. Oklahoma was inhabited for hundreds of years by many tribes of Native Americans. The first think I did when arrived was to visit a famous place in this country, called Bricktown, an old district where you can go to some restaurants, or shops (that originally were warehouses for the industry) by a water taxy!, it was like an American version of Venice, you will spend a pleasant night with or without your family. After visiting the city and some museums the hope to see the wild nature took me to the “Tallgrass Prairie Preserve”. I drove for 2 hours from Oklahoma City, but I think it was worth. In fact when you see the magnificence of bison you are satisfied immediately, it was a nice day seeing bison and their youngs, in this springtime.

After eating in a restaurant, the waitress told me that I could not leave without visiting the AT&T Stadium where it serves the Dallas Cowboys of the National Football League, it can accommodate more than eighty thousand persons!, it is really huge and you feel the American football culture and importance that it has in this country!. This was a short stop for a day but I wish return here to see more.

fourth step: Indianapolis READ

For my fourth step, I went to Indianapolis, the main city of the state of Indiana. Firsty, I went to the downtown of the town, but it was quite similar to the other cities I visited before. In New York, I hadn't had the time to visit the museum of modern art, so today, I visited the Indianapolis museum of art to make up for it. I absoluty want to go to Texas before the end of my road trip, so today I planned to take my car earlier to be in Missouri tomorrow, without making a step in Illinois. But when I wanted to leave, the car didn't want to start and did a weird noise. It was out of order!! I went to a garagist to fix it, but the damages were too big, so I called the agency who rented me the car, they said to me that it wasn't grave, this car has often motors problems ( that's why it was less expensive than the others...), and that they will pay for the reparations. But now, I hadn't a car anymore. So I went to the airport, and I chose a destination at random. I am actually on the plane, direction California for my next step!!

After I left Texas, the bus took me to Louisiana. I arrived in the Capital, Baton Rouge after having traveled a few milles on the bus. There I was able to walk along the banks of the Mississippi. I also visited the old capitol of Louisiana which has become a museum. But since I didn't stay long I didn't have time to do anything else. So then the bus took me to the most famous city in Louisiana, New Orleans. I visited the French districts of this city, moreover I notably met people who speak French and who live there. I talked to them about the life they lead. It was a very informative trip to Louisiana, where I discovered lots of new things.
