1. By looking at ratings, media buyers can plan their strategy on reaching more of their target audience more effectively.

Media sellers can use the ratings to assist the execution of advertising content on the various platforms, thus producing content that suits audience preferences.

2. Media buyers would mostly target the working age group, most likely between young adults to fresh retirees (20-60) as they have income to afford buying products.

3. If TV ratings are positive, the advertised product will have an increase in engagement and audience, which heightens their revenue margin, thus allowing the broadcaster to earn more.

1. Media buyers can effectively identify platforms/strategies to promote their products to suitable audiences.
Media sellers can leverage on these ratings to help sell their credibility and reliability as advertising platforms, bringing in more revenue.
Additionally, ratings serve as feedback for both parties on their performance as advertisers.

2. Target audiences are usually stereotypical groups. They are between ages 20 to 65. For example, if a media buyer was to sell skincare, the target audience would be 20 to 35 year old women who'd like to maintain their youth. Stereotypes serve as an efficient way to sell products as its meaning is easily understood in the shortest amount of time. This way, companies are able to save costs too.

3. In the media industry, choosing the right kind of advertisement and advertiser is imperative in creating an image of a product. For example, ads in TV shows with higher ratings would mean that there would be more exposure (ie. Samsung in almost every K-Drama). Furthermore, high ratings = people liking the show, so when an ad is placed in it viewers will tend to view the product in a more favourable light. This brings in more revenue for both media sellers and buyers, creating a win-win situation.

1) How do TV Ratings affect the Media Buyer & Media Seller?

Media buyers and sellers have to evaluate where their message will be delivered effectively to their lists of possible audience. This is so that their ads or content can be delivered to more people as when more households are tuned in to a particular program, they will get more effective reach and potential buyers.

2) Which audience demographic is the most attractive to Media Buyers? Why?

I think that the target audience for media buyers is for people aged 25 to 44. This is because people within that age category tend to be influenced by things they see in ads such as hair volumizing shampoo or anti-aging products. These ads appeal to people of this age category as they are often in need of life-changing products to help them ease their daily routines as they do not have as much free time as youths or teenagers do. Additionally, they are able to provide money for themselves which allows them to contribute to the ads by having purchases as much as they want. Therefore, having them as an intended audience would increase the success rate of their ads and content.

3)As a Broadcaster, suggest one way in which our knowledge of TV Ratings & (Target) Audience can affect revenue.

With a higher TV rating, the chances of having more of the target audience tuned in would be fairly high as well. Therefore, the revenue earned from these audiences would be higher as the rate of success in terms of reaching out to target audiences and potential buyers are most likely met.

1) TV Ratings affect the Media Buyer and Media Seller because it lets them know how and when consumers are interacting with their content. It also gives them more insight of their preferences so that they can strategise and market effectively to their audience in order to further improve their content or to find a prime time to showcase their product they want to advertise.

2) Media Buyers would most likely want to target a younger age group. Mainly those from the ages of 25 to 44 years old. This is because most of them are working and have the spending power and have needs which allows them to purchase whatever product the Media buyer wants to promote .

3)If the TV Ratings were positive and the target audience is of a younger demographic then broadcasters and distributors would be able to use this knowledge to continue to air the program that they enjoy and produce more content that is suited and relatable to them which in turn will increase revenue as well as audience engagement.

1)For Media buyers, knowledge on TV ratings gives them a better understanding on which TV platforms their target demographic frequently goes to, which in turn, allows them to make important decisions on which advertising spaces to invest such that they can have a higher chance of potential consumers coming into contact with their marketed product online. For media sellers, TV ratings provides them insight on which are the more popular online platforms that consumers flock to, thus enabling these media sellers to sell advertising spaces on said platforms for financial success.

2)Target demographics which appeal to media buyers are generally dependant on the product they are trying to advertise. But generally, the target audience would be from around 25 to 45.This is because this age group consists of young and single people; who are unburdened with taking care of families, and thus, are more free to browse the online web, as well as middle aged people, who by that point, would have stable, well paid jobs such that they are more likely to buy the products advertised to them because they can afford it.

3)By being aware of shows with high TV ratings, broadcasters can thus arrange for media seller or buyer's advertised products to be broadcasted before or after or even in between these shows such that the large amount of consumers of the TV show would be exposed to the product and reach a larger audience than it could have otherwise. However, if the advertisement in too long, too repetitive or too information heavy, this could cause consumers to drift away from these TV shows, resulting in the downfall in popularity and views and, inadvertently, the revenue would decrease as well.

1) TV Ratings affect both media buyers and sellers equally. TV ratings can either make or break the success of advertisement campaigns of advertisers and their agencies. TV ratings will determine how well received their content would be, and if it is not well received, media buyers can ramp up their strategies accordingly. It affects media sellers too because they determine how and how much of their ''space" they should sell to buyers.
2)the audience demographic which I think is the most attractive to Media buyers are consumers from the ages of 25-55. This age group consists of millennials and Gen X (the generations that watch the most traditional and new age media). The younger ages in this demographic are most likely to be planning to settle down at that age, so they would rely on the media for information and resources through advertisements
3) TV broadcasters have to be clever when it comes to knowing their TV ratings well. Though it is crucial for media buyers (advertisers especially) to have attractive and marketable campaigns, it is also on broadcasters to know when and how they should utilise/display these advertisements. For example, if a certain advertisement is bad/annoying, that certain TV network will garner lesser viewership over a period of time, which would in turn affect the revenue for that TV network.

1) TV ratings affect the media buyer and media seller as this gives them more information on what their audience prefers to watch, and how they can improve on their show. Ratings help to keep the platform or show going, be it positive or negative, and is a platform of feedback for both the seller and buyer. This helps the seller know what kind of platforms they should advertise and invest in, and also gives buyers knowledge of what to invest their money in.
2) The most attractive audience demographic to media buyers, in my opinion, is around ages 18 to 40. This is the prime time for these ages to be interested in television programmes and use the various media platforms. They are more impressionable and consume more media than the older generation. Most of the younger generation would be more willing to try out new things, and most of them are independent and have the means to purchase these items that they see. This generation is more open-minded and would be interested in these platforms.
3) By knowing TV ratings and target audience, we would be better equipped to create platforms that will be appealing to our target audience, of whatever age. They would thus enjoy it more and be engaged. We can then connect better with our audience and create content that greatly interest the audience, so that people would be willing to invest in and tune in more, increasing the ratings, which ultimately increases revenue.

This also helps media buyers to be more cost efficient as TV atings can help them to decide when is the best time to invest in ad spots.

2) The most attractive demographic for media buyers would be working adults/ young adults. The people in this demographic consume a wide range of media daily, from news on TV to shows on digital platforms; as such the chances of them being online to catch an ad broadcast is higher. People in this demographic are also earning their own money so if a media buyer's product catches their eye, they can choose to buy it anytime they want as they are the ones in charge of their own finances.

3) Knowledge of TV ratings and target audience can help broadcasters decide what content is popular with audiences and broadcast those, boosting the number of people watching the show. This in turn helps drive the cost of their ad spots up as more media buyers would want to use their platforms to advertise their products, thus helping broadcasters to increase their revenue.
