He is from a very poor family so when he was a child he used to made some robberies. He was a great trumpetist and start his career in Chicago in 1917 and recorded one of the first jazz album in 1925 called “Hot Five” with his wife Lil Hardin and 3 others musicians.

Let’s listen one of the song recorded called “Fireworks”

So this song illustrate well the crazy years because this is what people used to listen during this era. We can feel the happiness give by Armstrong’s trumpets it can remind us all the parties which was organised in the US.

After this first album, Armstrong will made a lot of concerts (around 300 per years) with differents groups. He became one of the most famous jazzmen thanks to his most famous song : Hello Dolly but he also sang a really famous french song : La Vie en Rose.

He stopped his career in 1970 and died of an heart attack one year later at 69 years old.
