Things that I gained from the observation:

Our teaching styles are very similar. Her energy in the class kept the students on board. Even though many students may struggle with the content, she encouraged those students and didn't let them sit back and not try the problem...

I enjoyed her Kahoot game as a tool for review....students were very engaged and had fun while completing problems.

AP Calculus was observed. Cherisse has a very good command of the classroom. Her teaching style lends itself to students sharing ideas and solutions in an open forum. She encourages students to ask questions, work with each other in pair share activities. Students seemed open to working with each other and seeking help when needed. The atmosphere inside the room was a class being able to take risks (solving a problem) without any fear of other students judging them. I enjoyed my time within her class.

During the observation, Ms. Payne used the document camera to model problem-solving steps. The tool allowed the students to clearly see the material and follow along as she demonstrated strategies during AP Calculus. This allowed her the opportunity to maintain student engagement and gave her quick access to students who had questions.

It is evident that Ms. McManus has created a warm, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment. All students were actively engaged and encouraged to participate, with clear evidence of respect and collaboration among peers. She demonstrated inclusive practices by using varied instructional strategies. Students appeared comfortable expressing themselves, and the atmosphere promoted a strong sense of belonging and mutual respect. He positive environment significantly supports student learning and social-emotional development.
