Back in Roman times there was no such thing as fresh gallon water. Instead for the Romans to get fresh water they built aqueducts that brought fresh clean water from the mountains into there stone water fountains. If you were rich an wealthy you were most likely to have your own water fountain in your home meaning an aqueduct is built just for you. But if you weren't you had to grab a clay pitcher and fill it up at your local stone fountain.
