Teachers Compared

The teacher in the second video came across as more patient and understanding. To me, the students seemed to react and listen quicker in the second video than the first. She could do a countdown and get the students under control faster. In the first video, it seemed as if the students maybe didn’t respect her as much since she had to get on to them more about their seating and listening. First teacher needed to be more stern and threaten being escorted out of class when students weren’t listening.

Why build relationships?

Relationships are crucial to the learning process because they create a supportive and motivating environment where students feel valued, safe, and encouraged to take academic risks. When students have positive relationships with their teachers and peers, they are more likely to be engaged, participate in discussions, and develop confidence in their abilities. A strong student-teacher relationship helps build trust and increases motivation, while positive peer relationships promote collaboration, communication, and social development.

Creating a Welcoming and Inclusive Classroom Environment

I will greet students energetically every day, ask how their previous day was or morning and create a space where all voices are heard. Asking them simple- “how are you?” questions and saying good morning can start the day on the right note. It also shows that you truly care about them outside of school, not just in the classroom.

Providing Individualized Support and Encouragement

I will take time to understand each student’s strengths, challenges, and learning styles. Giving constructive feedback, recognizing achievements, and offering support when students struggle will help them trust that I care about their success. When students realize that you care more about them than just their grades or education, they work harder for you.
