Avicenna's existence argument

Avicenna argues that there must be a necessary existent, he argues that most things exist because of something else, such as we exist because our parents birthed us, or fish exist because there is water. He argues that all things must be because of something that is non contingent (existing because of something else). therefore proving the existence of a god.

Avicenna has a lot of compelling arguments and theories throughout his work, the floating man argument which we talked about in class made a compelling argument for spiritual self awareness. However there are also a lot of factors in his work, Avicenna can be diagnosed as a hard Determinist, one who believes nothing happens without prior cause, and because of this there is a contrast group of libertarianism that may find his arguments nullified due to their own beliefs, however there is no denying his impressive life as he impacted scholars and philosophy forever, I found this intriguing because of the fact that he was more so molded into a philosopher over time rather than from the beginning, and When I think of philosophy I think of it as a characteristic rather than a skill.
