In the creation of this portfolio, I wish to achieve a further understanding of what the life and career path of a performer entails. alongside attaining more comprahensive level of knowledge of the field as a whole. in order work as and be successful in this role you must take on a lot of unseen responsibility and skills. this can entail a multitude of things, this involves a lot of work in the background such as regular practice and participating in regular band work and rehearsals, this also involves set up and preparation for future band work such as creating future songs and set lists and insuring your instruments and yourself and fully prepared to play, thus meaning you much be warmed up and in tune or ensuring your instrument is properly tuned, set up and well maintained. There is also critical non-performance side of this position where you will be involved in the administrative side of the industry. this can involve things like promotion of songs and arranging venues to hold gigs in as well as organisation of tours, if necessary, this can also include the financial side of things such as negotiation of fees and revenue from performances.

Further skills you will need to be successful as a performer is a clear level of confidence in what they do in the industry, as a perfumer you need to stand out from the crowd and fully engage the audience. This comes with giving your all and putting in 100% to their work as well as complete dedication to prosper in their future career. Success all comes down to hard work and how much you strive to be better and better everyday. This all comes with true meaningful hard work and practice; musicians need to find ways to teach themselves about creating music as well as finding time to enjoy as well as criticise the work they produce. Practise is also a key part to being a musician. No star was made overnight, and all the practice and hard work in the background is what makes major performers who they are today.  Further skills that will keep you on track as a performer is modesty and realism, when most think of the music industry you think of the big names and the fame and money attached to them, but for starting grassroots musicians, this can be in the far future, but the anticipation of fame and money can slow you down, but mixing passion with financial gain can jeopardise someone’s forward trajectory into becoming a successful musician. In a nutshell its amazing to dream where you want to be and what you want to active in the future, but if the money is all you want the passion will fade thus making you fall short of the competition. One of the key attributes of a thriving musician Is alloy of patience, mastering an art is no easy feat and it takes time, a true musician will show persistence for years at a time and slowly getting better and better, you may not get a big break and suddenly you’re a star but with persistent practice and learning you will one day compete with and possibly outplay the competition. Creativity will also play a big part in a career whether its due to overcoming challenges or just in day-to-day life, it’s quite possible to have financial issues but finding creative ways to soles them is key, this is even better if you find ways to earn while still implementing music. as i move further into a career of a perfomer in the music industy. a perfromer is a career in which it is the creation of music for all types on audiences from all around the world to enjoy. And more importantly a performer is the one that brings music to life for listeners with the use of their personal instrumental or vocal talent. These talents can be enjoyed and perceived in a multitude of different ways such as through the attendance in live music festivals, concerts and world tours that take place. These events create a special and memorable experience for the fans and listeners. And what makes them be special is the culture of getting involved by singing and dancing by the fans.

I feel this is an effective piece of work to include in my portfolio as this shows a lot of personal development and vocal development as a soloist, as well as progress in working together in a band setting when compared to others in the beginning and throughout the year. And shows the progress I have made from taking in feedback from performances and working on my vocals in my lessons.

I feel my communication skills were crucial in this piece of work as I used my interpersonal skills to adapt and change my language and tone to suit different band members as I found all had varying levels of communication needs. This included the ability to ensure my body language was also appropriate as well as providing individuals the time to process what I was saying and retaining the information I portrayed. I ensured that I would repeat things I said to ensure we were all on the same page and fully understood each person’s contribution, cues and that timing was accurate.

I also believe that my personal approach worked well with the others. My informal and calm approach I feel allowed other to feel at ease and allowed communication to work effectively.

During the performance I recalled the skills I learned throughout my time in singing lessons. I learned the skill of knowing how crucial timing is and the impact that inaccurate timing can have on the whole performance, therefore appreciating the importance of timing and working hard to fine tune the skill was a challenge but one I feel I was successful in managing.

The other skills I feel I brought was my inherent skills in the feel I have for music. I think this is crucial to becoming a competent performer to have that almost invisible skill of feeling music, that innate feeling, which without it makes the strive for a good performance harder.

I also found that my skill in being able to read music supported my progression and performance, as again without this skill I would have found things more difficult, which would have potentially had an impact on my band members.

I think the skill in breathing control was also crucial, my ability to understand the breath control, vocal resonance, the pitch, accuracy, and voice range I feel all these skills contributed to the performance.

Other fundamental skills I possess are the deep desire I have to sing and constantly evolve and improve. My determination, enthusiasm, and commitment to singing is what I feel are crucial skills I have to continue with my desire to continue to sing. The deep seated commitment to singing and the emotions that I feel come out when I am singing I feel are apparent, and I feel are able to be visible due to the other skills I mention such as my communication skills which, due to singing being a form of communication, without these skills would be much more difficult and without the passion I feel I have.

I feel this is an effective piece of work to include in my portfolio as this shows a lot of personal development and vocal development when compared to others in the beginning and throughout the year. This also shows vast development compared to the informal performance in December.

I gained a multitude of skills in the preparation for this performance such as developing my vocal and technical abilities by consistent rehearsal and the skills of personal reflation. while conduction personal mindful practice I would evaluate myself and areas that needed work and practice those sections and if I ran into further difficulty, I would ask for further help and support from my vocal coach in order to learn and improve on these.

this skill was vital as I would be able to use my skills to identify and fix these issues in order for my performance to be to the best of my ability. this ties into the skills of collaborative working and communication skills. as I would work with my tutor to help break these barriers and overcome the issues, I have with my set list and take what I had learned from our lessons into personal practice to improve on them.

I feel this is an effective piece of evidence to include as this is one of the performances we have done earlier in the year were we all for the most part getting used to the new band we were in and gaining a deeper understand of what it like to work collaboratively in a band setting

I have gained skills in knowing cues and timings of other singers, how identifying if the timing is often slower or at a faster pace than we had rehearsed and managing to balance this out effectively and continue the performance at the minimum disruption. I feel that I have developed much more empathy for others and a deeper appreciation of the pressures other musicians and singers can feel. I appreciate that each performer has their individual needs and we all should respect one another qualities and support each other to develop their skills. This all contributed to a mutual feeling of an individual and mutual growth in personal resilience. these skills are crucial in a band setting as you need to all work together to produce a successful piece of work and to perform to a high standard

I feel this is an effective piece to include as it shows the first time, I performed solo in a setting with an audience. and outlines the aspects I would work on moving forward to improve my solo vocal work.

I had learned a lot of new skills in the time coming up to this performance that were effective in the preparation and in the final performance, the skills I used were also beneficial to overcoming personal doubts and confidence issues. I leaned new skills and new ways to work and practice. this addies massively in the quality of the final performance especially as this was my first solo performance. these skills are personal perseverance and the skills of vocal technique in which I built on during this time. furthermore, I used my skills leaned in vocal lessons such as articulation, rhythm pitch and dynamics these were all practiced constantly in order to improve on and for the performance to be the standard I desired. during this time, I would also build on my personal motivation skills and the skill of mindful practise in order for the confidence that I was secure in my vocal abilities and to take of the pressure of performing solo.

this piece utilises and shows my deep knowledge on contract and copywrite law alongside and understanding of the music industry as a whole and how it operates. this work also outlines the knowledge of collection societies, record companies and the moral rights of copywrite while also explaining the concept of copy write infringement research critical thinking planning and validation of varied sources.

in the writing of this piece, I used a variety of skills which include. the planning, the process of researching and validation a selection of different sources. alongside critical thinking and formal writing techniques. the use of all these skills aided me in the process to create a successful piece of formal writing in a business memo format.

The skills I feel I have learned which are fundamental is the ability to link theory to practice. Before I embarked on the course, I hadn’t realised the importance of theory and felt that it was simply natural to sing, and it came from emotions however learning about theories have deepened my knowledge and now I have the ability to appreciate theory, and its importance and how the link can often be difficult to see and understand, but as I grew to understanding this, it helps my singing as I knew more about the reason for different techniques etc, and how the theory affected voice pitch tone and the reason for the difference in pitches etc.

this artifact demonstrates my skills of the use on musical production software and knowledge of how to use it effectively to produce a successful final piece of work. alongside this I also use my skills of sound design and sound production to Aline the sound effects I used with the correct section of the video in order for them to colorate on screen and deliver an effective viewer experience.

ii created a simple piano melody throughout the piece, in doing so I utilised my knowledge of musical theory and knowledge of keyboards skills, I also used my skills of musical notation and understanding of pitching, the correct use of keys and scales to create this piano section. this is related back to my deep knowledge and understanding of music theory I have learned over the hear in theory portion of the course.

in this piece evidence it outlines the knowledge I have gained of the musical theory of pitches and clefs and shows I have detailed knowledge on this area of the course and music theory as a whole. some of the crucial skills I required and utilised to achieve this are, the skill of reading musical notation and the processed of corelation the correct clef and key a piece of music Aswell as using the correct sharp or flat in order for the music notation to sound correct when played furthermore I used the skill of determination and resilience and show that through constant failures in the revision process moving forward with the cousece.

this artifact shows I have obtained a deep understanding of this portion of the theory course and was successful in completing this test. this is an effective piece to include as I have used the knowledge io have gain for this section of the theory course in my vocal lessons and has given me a deeper understanding of where the vocal techniques I am using comes from.

this outlines the skills I have used such as the skill of relation of theory work to the act of performing live, and have continued to relate back to these theory concepts and my knowledge of them in order to aid me in the progression of my vocals this shows the skill of understanding theory and tsking inti a real world situation and utilising the skills and knowledge I have on the area and performing and displaying my skills to an audience , in which would only be possible with an understanding of both areas

I feel this is an effective piece to include as it shows my personal style and creativity and ties in all my knowledge of music theory and performing in one creative work.

the skills I have gained that aided and supported my work in this piece were developed over the whole course. form the lyrical skills I gained and worked on in the songwriting portion of the course, skill that branch of from that such as conduction daily dives using your imagination to take yourself to a different place using all senses and write and create mind maps that form into inspiration for lyrics. furthermore, the skills I have developed in sense bound writing alongside the knowledge of rhyming and lyrical technique and utilise skills like clustering words to give a visual representation and aid in the creation of lyrics.

In addition to other pieces on evidence I am including my programme note that corelates with my final vocal assessment with Taylor. This outlines an overview of each song I performed and details the musical elements of each piece.

I used I multitude of skills while creating this for my performance, these skills include critical thinking, song analysis skills and musical theory skills, in order to outline the musical techniques and musical aspects that are contained I the songs I had to utilise all knowledge and skills I gained from all parts of the course. I also used self-reflection skills to describe how I would be more successful in the performance that followed Aswell as my skills and knowledge of vocal technique in order to have a true understanding of how each song is unique sung and therefore ensure my performance was to the best of my ability.
