In 1941, Inter-American Summer University is created in our capital to learn Spanish and later English.

United States donated materials to our country (books, journals, movies). 

UCR is created in 1941.

In 1944, English teaching becomes mandatory in our schools.

Centro Cultural Costarricense-Norteamericano was created in 1945. It had a strong connection with the American Embassy, providing more resources and well prepared workers.

Then, in order to apply those aspects I mentioned before, public and private universities started to implement concepts about the new world, that is, the newest information technologies related to education. All this was possible thanks to the companies and their benefits for the universities. 

Finally, globalization and economic aspects in Costa Rica give us the opportunity to understand and analyze the impact of English in society.  In this last century, the new effective curricular reform is created for all primary, secondary and university levels.  It was created with the aim of training all future professionals, technicians and experts who would become part of state or private companies in the short or medium term.
