Your covers will be a photographed 3-dimensional builds/constructions/models. In each case your bands name should be part of the 'build'.

Outcomes to be mocked up at scale (we want to believe your album exists) and we will want to hold and assess these practical elements at formative assessment.

Your album and singles cannot just be the same 3D elements repeated in different configurations. (though you can repeat some elements, so long as they are not the primary components).

Your album and singles must present a cohesive set with a shared theme and visual language.

Remember to consider type and it's integration with image (and your band name should be part of the 3D build).

Inlays, double gatefolds etc are all on the table and whilst may take more work, may also provide greater satisfaction and reward.

3D BRIEF

INTRODUCTION

By now your band is well established with its new swanky logo, a van load of merch and is ready to hit the road for a number of breakthrough gigs. (The drummer has had to be replaced, due to an unfortunate after show party where he accidentally threw himself out of the hotel window instead of the TV).

OBJECTIVE

What a band sounds like is one thing, but we all know it's how they look that really matters...

2 single covers (7")

Oh, and they have to be made in 3D and captured in camera. Why? Just 'cause!

CONSIDERATIONS

Do they look S**T HOT?

EXPLORATION! is still the name of the game. You need to start making and creating off the bat. Think about what materials you can use and how you can construct with them.

EXPERIMENT! Try an array of ways that you can build your designs. Remember these will have to be photographed so look at your creations through the eye of a camera lens. Think about perspective, size, lighting, depth of field, colour effects and shadow.

IMPLEMENTATION you will need to create a space to build and experiment. Go to the photography department to get the right equipment, camera, lighting rig etc.
