Later we are told about Eddie's dad younger life and it gives Eddie a better understanding of why he wasn't the best dad he should've been. This is important because at the time Eddie didn't care much about his father's death, but now that he knows more he has a forgiveness for him and care.

She explains to Eddie that it is a lot worse on him when he doesn't forgive these people for what they did although it can be hard to do so. This is significant because Eddie's father was never close to him which makes it a lot harder for him to forgive. I can relate to this because there are times in life when I don't want to forgive someone for something they did, but in the end, we are all human and have made mistakes. So Eddie, other people, and I have to be able to look past things and be able to forgive sometimes.

Eddie understands he was able to love and feel Marguerite's love even though she had passed away.

If Eddie was never out gambling, she wouldn't have had to get in that car and make that drive.

Also, it relates back to another lesson he learned being that everyone is connected in some way.
