I think the parents are very brave and allowing children to explore life and figure out who they are on their own is a good thing. Not many people would have the guts to do so, as not everyone is too open minded when it comes to gender identity. However, I do believe that when you're very young, you need your parents to be your guide and lead your way, especially when you are a child.Then, growing up, you can figure out things on your own. I don't know if I could ever do what these parents did, but i do respect their choice. Hopefully they'll know how to handle any kind of criticism their child may face in the future. They should learn that we don't have to be "accepted" by anybody, but we should be able to express who we are and to embrace it, without worrying about being like everybody else. Sure, children feel the need to identify themselves with something specific, but we should teach them how to be okay with who they are and how to face the differences, because there's nothing wrong with them. I really don't think these parents are trying to prevent their kid from fitting in, but they want him or her to feel free, so I don't think this kind of behavior is cruel at all. Children are unaware of their situation and parents should be a guide and an example to them on the growing process. But I don't completely agree with that statement, because Imo children aren't aware about things such as sexuality and gender. As I said in the recording, they just play, and their world revolves around their parents... Influencing their minds can be negative, because they can develop self issues, and have a lack of self-confidence, thinking that there's something wrong with them. It's true that they should fit in, but they have to do it on their own way. The parents can be there, supporting them, but other than that, they shouldn't act because it's not their responsability.
