         <description><![CDATA[<p>T-T = In Ringside and The New York Times Article the both talk about how it was brutally hot on the first day of the trial. </p><p> T- T= In Ringside and the New York times article they talk about how the citizens of Dayton and everyone who came to see this trial were all gathering in and around the courthouse because two of the most famous lawyers of this time were in Dayton to defend each of their believes in the trial. </p><p>T - T= In the Malone trial speech  there is a big commotion of clapping and cheering, and in the image there are hands coming out of windows clapping and cheering on what is on the street. </p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>T-T:  The people of Dayton liked the traditionalists much more than they liked the modernists and the people in the book were also very similar to the Dayton people.</p><p>T-T:  Like the author in the book states, Peter Sykes was afraid to lose his religion to all of these ideas and so he theoretically " sat on the bench." </p><p>T-T:  After the trial in Dayton, the trial had many people questioning their beliefs but they had no way of explaining it, the theory just felt right. </p>]]></description>

Bryan.</p><p>T-T - On page 136 of Ringside, and in his speech, Mr. Malone gets applauded even though most people are not even on his side, because of his rhetoric language.</p><p>T-T - In the News Article, it explains how people were coming from all over the Dayton to watch the trial.          <description><![CDATA[<p>T-T - In both Malone's speech and in <i>Ringside, 1925</i>, the speeches  both state that "we feel we stand with fundamental freedom in America. We are not afraid."</p><p>T-T - In <i>Ringside, 1925,</i> Mr. Robinson buys a monkey for the trial. He tells Jimmy Lee to take the monkey to the trial. This idea is crazy but interesting. The monkey escapes. Jimmy Lee says, "I made sure to tell Mr. Robinson how all of the photographers at the courthouse had taken pictures of the great Dayton monkey chase." (p.87) This is an example of the circus atmosphere that <i>The New York Times</i> was talking about in the article.</p><p>T-T - In the cartoon, the man is wearing a large hat and looks like a hillbilly. He is wearing mountain boots. He is old and weathered. His music box symbolizes the trial. People in the city thought the organ grinders were annoying, poor, and low classed. <span style="font-size: 13px;">This picture represents how big cities felt about small towns. This cartoon is trying to show how silly and ignorant the people of Dayton were.</span></p>]]></description>

The newspapers in the article also made the trial out to be a clash of the two groups.</p><p>T-T the slides say that only a few people were in the middle ground.
