It's a long and complex road, full of ups and downs, which eventually leads you to success. So let me tell you my story and show how necessary it is to learn foreign languages. Let's start!
To begin with, I've been learning English since the age of 5. I remember the day when my dad brought a pack of colourful magazines called Piznayko. Those were English learning magazines for kids that contained CDs and helped learn up to 500 words per year. I somehow managed to read them from time to time despite being a clumsy kid, and it became kind of a hobby back then.  
But only ten years later I realised how I wasn't mistaken. Something that back then seemed funny is now one of the essential things in my life that often helps me in various situations. For example, when at the age of thirteen I got into metal music, I was amazed by how I could understand almost all of the lyrics without the need to look up the translation on the internet. I was also lucky to read the original "1984" by George Orwell, and I noticed how much the original differs from the translation. And since then, many other unfamiliar things have become subconsciously understandable. 
In addition, I often help my dad with the translation of various English texts or songs he listens to but hardly understands its meaning. However, at the age of 47, he says that he's too old to learn English, but I should give him credit for making me learn English at such an early age. 
One more thing to mention: as I'll be pursuing my career as an IT-Specialist in the future, a good knowledge of foreign languages is (and will always be) essential. But it is not what you need to be self-sufficient and feel yourself independent. And that's why it is important to study foreign languages.
Of course there are more reasons, not only this. S lot of manuals to different gadgets are written in English. The most amount of information, that is stored in Google is on English. So, to find more information, just enter your request in search line in English. Also, a lot of music is sung by English performers.
So, how studying foreign languages helped me in my life? Well, I can translate English written manuals to my father, understand the lyrics of English songs, find more useful information for my presentations in Google. I also can understand English speaking people in social networks or in real life. And knowing English helped me to communicate with people when I was abroad.

In my opinion, knowledge of foreign languages ​​plays an important role in our lives.  Years pass and foreign languages ​​become more and more important in society.  What helps to know foreign languages ​​in life?  First of all, if we go to England or France, where you need to ask for information, for example: about the destination I need to get to.  Another striking example is ordering food at a restaurant.  A person who does not speak foreign languages ​​will not be able to order anything.
