It was 22.17 on the clock, when Mrs. Daomei opened the gate and went into the garden, located right in front of her house. It was a pretty woman of 50 years, who adored hats, pink roses and her pet - corgi named George. They lived two together for many years, because Mrs.Daomei's husband died of cancer, and they didn’t have children. Tonight, Mrs. Daomei was going to bake a lemon pie, but suddenly she discovered that a carton of eggs was empty and she had to go to the supermarket that was not far off. As it usually happens , in the supermarket our heroine met her neighbor, Mrs. Sparks, who bought milk for her son Michael. It was a warm July evening and our ladies, who had not seen each other for 3 days, decided to drink a glass of cold tea and discuss a new fruit pie recipe.

-«Where is Michael?» Mrs. Daomei asked. «I have not seen him for so long!»

-«Oh, he is such a reveller ! Probably, he went to the cinema with his friends again.»

-«It is right! He is too young to sit in one place! Oh, my God, look at the clock, it is so late! I have to go home, see you tomorrow!»

Mrs. Daomei needed only five minutes to get to her cottage. Strangely enough, the door was wide open ... Mrs. Daomei went inside and called George by name, but the house answered her with silence. Only a box with a luxuriant yellow hat inside was lying in the hallway. That night, Mrs. Daomei cried much and could not fall asleep. In the morning she asked the neighbors about George , but no one saw the dog. Mrs. Daomei went to the Sparks, as she thought that Michael might have been involved in George's disappearance, but neighbours slammed the door in front of her face. Mrs. Daomei turned to leave, when she suddenly saw a fresh newspaper that was lying on the steps. The front-page headline was :

«Mysterious disappearances of pets: who is responsible for the loss of Corgis?»

The paper reported that dozens of dogs of the breed Welsh Corgi throughout the all UK have disappeared in the past two weeks. The police refuse to take this case. In despair, she had come back home to make a hundred missing posters , when she suddenly tripped over a box with a hat. Mrs. Daomei thought that it was a gift from her old friend Suzanne Weller, who makes hats to the order. They quarreled last week, but Mrs. Daomei decided that Suzanne wants to make peace, so immediately called her and invited to drink tea. Suzanne came in the evening. She was wearing a red dress and a straw hat that emphasized her dark hair. The women hugged each other and began to drink tea with lemon pie.

-«Thanks for the hat, Suzanne! It’s gorgeous!»

-«What hat?» - girl asked in surprise.

-«The one that you sent me last night. It's lying on the table.» -Mrs. Daomei said.

Suzanne carefully explored hat and reported that she had nothing to do with it. She found a small label, which bear an inscription : «Made by the personal hatter of the Queen of Great Britain Elizabeth II» ...

The women thought that the hat was delivered by mistake and the courier would return soon. At that time, evening news began on TV, which Mrs. Daomei watched every day. The correspondent led a report directly from the royal palace, where Queen Elizabeth II gave a magnificent reception. She was sitting on a lilac sofa and waving her hand. That time about two hundred corgis were sitting around her legs.

Epilogue-Explanation

Our heroine will never know the real reason why her pet was stolen. And I'm afraid she will never see him again. All we know is that Queen Elizabeth loves Corgi so much that one day she told her hatter, with whom she was in a close relationship, that she always dreamed of a personal room in a palace where hundreds of her favourite dogs would live. Apparently, the hatter decided to fulfill a wish of his queen. And the hat was left as a gift to console the old woman. We can't be sure of anything. Therefore, I leave the right to the reader to imagine his own finale, which he believes the most correct.
