I got the opportunity with this shadow prompt. I tried to represent Jaco's music by including 3D pieces to bring the art to life and stark color contrasts and colors. The 3D pieces give the art the life that is in Jaco"s music. These helped me make a lot of progress as an artist to be able to recreate what I see on paper. I learned better control of my pencil and how to trust myself with not looking at the paper while drawing. The continuous line drawings helped me develop the way I look at objects in that i'm better able to draw shadows and observe larger shapes. Gestural drawings helped me develop the way I orient objects on the paper. It helped me get better angles and proportions to different objects and odd angles.

I feel that I grew a lot as an artist by working on my perspective and proportions when I'm outside the classroom. Drawing while standing up also proved to be a challenge. My bonsai drawing was particularly challenging because a tiny tree has so many tiny details. The face is white, meant to show purity, and the dark red hair is meant to provide a very stark contrast to the almost entirely white face. The dark red is meant to show a deep passion. The red is juxtaposed by the bright green shirt that she is wearing. The deep passion juxtaposed by its opposite color green shows an opposition to the deep passion.
