The British decided to colonise Australia because the British prisons were getting overcrowded so they needed to alleviate the problem by transporting many of them to Australia. They also wanted to expand the British Empire, to assert Britain’s claims to the territory against other colonial powers and establish a British base in the global south.

Between the years of 1788 and 1900, the Aboriginal population was reduced by about 90%. There were two main reasons for this event to occur. The first reason was because there were many new diseases that were introduced. These diseases included chickenpox, smallpox, influenza and measles. All of these diseases were infectious and they spread extremely quickly and they killed lots of people. The last reason was that they had a loss of land. by the 1870’s all of the fertile areas of Australia had been taken from the Aboriginal people and had been given to white settlers. Because of the loss of land, this meant that there was a loss of essentials like food and water. This posed great danger to the Aboriginals as they were left with no place to live nowhere for them to hunt for food. By this time, the Aboriginal people had dramatically reduced their chances for survival.  

.In many ways indigenous Australia was different in the past from what it is today. Before the arrival of people from european the fist fleet, there were no horses or carriages no tall buildings no large farms and no travellers from the other side of the world Australia was a largely unspoilt country where people respected the environment around them and made sure animals and plants were never over hunted or over collected. People only took enough to feed the number of people there at the time and nothing was wasted.This ensured there would be food next time they or someone else needed it.

when the european colonises first come to Australia they started of with a little amount of food. So they had to go hunt for animals but the group did not now that there were more people on the land (Aboriginals)when the Aboriginals found out there were animals getting hunted they stared to get Mad and upset.After a few weeks the Aboriginals stared to get sick,there lands taking over and diseases because of the new people from the first fleet.
