The Helpline is also there to support people who have had any type of pregnancy loss, including miscarriage, stillbirth, ectopic pregnancy, molar pregnancy or termination for medical reasons. The midwives who run the line are specialists who can support you with any aspect of pregnancy loss that would be helpful for you, including mental health and pregnancy after loss.

We all have core professional trainings in health visiting, psychology, education, psychotherapy or social work, with many years’ experience of working with parents, babies and children. 

We have all undertaken extra training in supporting the parent-infant relationship and can offer a wide range of skills and approaches.

We work in community health clinics, family hubs and homes across Tameside and Glossop, and work closely with health visitors, midwives, GPs, nurseries and other early years professionals. 

Our mission is to:

• Provide twins, triplets or more – and their families – with the information needed to make informed decisions.

• Facilitate a network of community support.

• Ensure that our community’s unique needs are understood by the professionals who care for them and reflected in research, care standards and public policy. 

  
  

We offer help, information and tips online, over the phone/email, or via Twinline. We also run a unique service that helps families in desperate need. 

Family Nurse Partnership work with first time parents aged 19 and under (21 and under if a care leaver), parents are allocated their own specially trained family nurse who visits them regularly, from early pregnancy until their child is two. The Family Nurse will deliver the Healthy Child Programme to the family as well as offering additional support to ensure parents have a healthy pregnancy, babies are given the best start in life, and parents are able to continue to achieve their own goals and aspirations longer term.

Within the NWNODN there are twenty-two neonatal units and one neonatal transport service all providing twenty-four hour care for sick and premature neonates.

The work undertaken by the NWNODN is clinician led with the best interest of neonates and their families at the heart of all we undertake.

The NWNODN works in partnership with families and healthcare professionals delivering neonatal care across the north west, helping each clinical setting to achieve the highest standard of care possible.

Each year over 8,000 babies are admitted to one of the twenty-two neonatal units within the NWNODN, which include two neonatal surgical centres and two cardiac centres, all served by a dedicated 24/7 neonatal transport team, Connect NW.

Working with a child and their family to address their needs early can reduce risk factors (the worries) and increase protective factors (what is working well). Protective factors can reduce risk to a child's wellbeing and includes:

• Developing strong social and emotional skills

• Having a strong social support network for the family

• Support for good parental mental health

• Having good income support, access to benefits and advice

• Having access to good community services and facilities

The Early Help Assessment is voluntary – you and your child can choose to be involved.

Parent Support Drop in

Currently runs once a week, Monday 8:30 – noon at North Family Hub. Parents are welcome to come and discuss issues with one of our parent coordinators.

Riding the rapids

Offers support for families whose child either has or is in the process of receiving a diagnosis of Autism, you would need a referral to access this service.

Reducing Parental Conflict support

To support parents to improve communication styles and reduce the intensity of family disagreements. A referral would be needed to access this support.

They act as a ‘one stop shop’ offering early support to families and young people to help overcome difficulties and build strong relationships.

As well as being open in buildings in each of Tameside’s four neighbourhood areas, with facilities also available at other community venues, they also include virtual offers and are for families with children of all ages, from 0 to 19 or up to 25 with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), with a great Start for Life offer at their core.

By bringing existing family-help services together, they improve access and connections with support including help with infant feeding and perinatal mental health, as well as making it easier to access wider services such as smoking cessation and job advice.

In partnership with other local health services, we offer a community based antenatal information session, "Womb to World" which runs for 4 consecutive weeks, 1800-2000. Booking is via our Ticket Source webpage.

We’re a Greater Manchester charity working alongside the neonatal team to support families before, during and after their baby’s hospital stay. Our services are led by parents with lived experience of neonatal care.

Early Start - Our 6 week post-natal group programme ‘Early Start’ aims to support you to build a strong relationship with your baby and support their development as you find your way together through the early weeks and months.

The group provides a safe, welcoming, and predictable setting for you and your baby to learn more about all the amazing ways babies communicate, to share experiences with other parents, learn simple baby strokes, and to access up to date health and wellbeing guidance for both babies and their caregivers.

Booking a session means you are signing up for a 5 week block at the same day, same time each week, but you only need to book the first session.

Dad Ready starts before the baby arrives. You will learn enough about pregnancy and birth to follow what is going on, practise the baby jobs and sort practical things before everybody is exhausted.

You do not need to remember everything in one go. The point is to be less surprised, know a few useful jobs and know where to look when you forget.
