  • Cane Toads - An invasive animal that threatens native and vulnerable species, that's population also spreads rapidly and in large amounts.
  • Roads - Often trees and habitats need to be cleared for their construction leaving flora and fauna to seek new habitats, as well as the cars that consistently travel on them causing a threat to passing wildlife.
  • Chemical Weed killers - Although useful, weed killers contain harmful substances that cause a threat to flora, fauna and people, the chemicals can leach into storm water drains or other water ways heading straight for natural water supplies.

    • Absolute Risk - The 'Worst Case Scenario' type of risk, it is the uppermost limit of risk in an activity or situation. Scuba diving is an example of this as the participators must have a high level of understanding and capability because the activity going wrong could results in serious injuries like animal attacks or failing equipment. 
    • Perceived Risk - A perceived risk can vary, it could be much higher or lower than the real risk. When a person makes a subjective assessment of the activity they are about to face. Climbing Mount Oberon can be a scary thing for many people because of the height and track conditions, if a hiker was to become fearful of their safety during this activity the perceived risk  has become higher than the actual risk.
    • Actual/Real Risk - This is the genuine risk that applies in a situation/activity, given safety has been considered. For example the risk associated with hiking up a steep rocky section of track using correct safety equipment.

    Safety should be considered in all situations.
