Successful or Unsuccessful?

The FERA aimed to be effective, provide work for employable citizens on the relief roll, and to have a diverse of variety of relief programs. I believe that the FERA was successful because it provided jobs for over 20 million people and brought back the working spirit and morale to the nation. This program created jobs for everyone in the country, from professionals to unskilled and uneducated persons.

Good Use of Federal Money...or not?

Even though the FERA and other programs created during the New Deals dragged the United States into a great international debt, till today, they were a responsible use of Federal Money . The Great Depression was caused by many factors such as bank closures, unemployment, and an uneven distribution of wealth. These factors meant that the majority of the population had no money in their pockets. If about 98% of the population had no money or very little money then they cannot contribute into the circulation of the economy by buying goods. Therefore, it is the governmentś responsibility to find a way to give the needy money. By funding the state governments to create public projects, such as this, the people will work and earn money.

Many people believed that the programs passed by the National Recovery Administration were unconstitutional and a waste of Federal money. The once who were against this specific program believed that the President was extending his powers and led the government into a deficit spending. Many saw that this program was a temporary fix, that it created jobs but did not guarantee those positions for the ones working and the ones unemployed.
