I am Mrs. Garris- Gowen. I'm an adjunct faculty at Nash CC. I enjoy teaching. I am married and share four children with my husband, Cameron. They are ages: 17, 16, 12, and 10. I have been in the social work field for over 20 years. Currently, I am a supervisor working with members who are developmentally disabled. I have worked with different populations. Gerontology is one of my favorite subjects to teach as the elderly are close to my heart.

This semester is my last semester here at NCC. In May, I will graduate majoring in Human Services and Gerontology. I currently work with the elderly throughout the week who suffer from dementia and Alzheimer's. I've been a caregiver since I was 15 years old and six years later I've expanded this experience greatly and I've had the privilege to work with many elderly patients. My hobbies include working at the Rocky Mount Senior Center as a  volunteer and spending time with my family. I really love all of my seniors, so that is why I picked Gerontology as my minor.
