Many violent wars were fought between them and the natives. Seven Years War, King Philip's War, and numerous other small battles. Puritans and Catholics had a major clash in Maryland as Puritans didn't tolerate Catholics. 

Quakers were a very pacifistic people. When the settled in Pennsylvania they made sure to respect native lands and leaders.
