The Hunger Games

The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins is a book about a dystopian future where the Capitol controls 12 districts, which results in them struggling to have enough food and other resources. The Capitol also has a yearly Hunger Games, where 24 children aged 12-17 fight against each other. The last one to survive wins fame and fortune, which is unheard of in the districts.

The main character, Katniss, is a 16 year old girl who works hard every day to provide for her sister and mother, until her sister is chosen for the Hunger Games!

What I liked about this book was how brave and how much love Katniss has for her sister. The genre is dystopian fiction.

The Unwanteds & Unwanted Quests

The Unwanteds is a 7-book series by Lisa McMann. It's a fantasy fiction full of creativity which is a key part in this book and magic is also involved.

It's about this boy named Alex and he and some other 13-year-olds were sentenced to death during the yearly purge. When they arrive at the death farm, they are surprised to discover that the death farmer was an eccentric magician. He whisked them away to the colorful and magical world of Artimé where they learn that creativity is a good and powerful thing.

Unwanteds Quest is the sequel series to The Unwanteds and is just as amazing.

TW: there some violence, death, and blood in both series.

Alone

When a young girl named Maddie’s secret sleepover backfires she is abandoned, alone, and trapped in her hometown with no one else. Her only company is a rottweiler named George. Maddie and George must find food, water, supplies, and a way home. They experience many close encounters with wildlife and terrifying natural disasters. Maddie has to overcome so many challenges and use her skill, strength, and wit to do it. This story is full of hope and survival. The only thing I would change about this book is to have a book two. It was such an amazing book that I absolutely loved I wish there was a sequel for the series. This book has such great detailed descriptions and is full of twists and turns. If you like stories about adventure and survival this story is definitely for you!

Warriors: Into the Wild

This is the first Warriors book by Erin Hunter. It's a fantasy fiction that looks through the eyes of a cat.

Rusty the cat has a perfect life, chasing toys around and doing what he likes. One day, he ventures into the forest and discovers some forest cats who were told to be dangerous. When he goes back home, he can't stop thinking about the forest cats. Read the book to find out because I can't tell you or else, I'm spoiling.

This book is one of many. There are 6 books in each series and there currently 7 series, another one in the making, guidebooks, extra stories, and graphic novels.

A Wolf Called Wander

A Wolf Called Wander is a beautiful and entertaining story by Rosanne Parry about a wolf and his long journey to find home. This book is based off of a real story of a wolf that was tracked to have traveled a very long way. In this story, our wolf meets dangers as well as experiences relieving and happy moments while experiencing the wild life of being in the outdoors and the middle of nowhere.
