1. L’origine du Monde by means of Gustave Courbet: she still take into account seeing this portray after she went to Paris while she used to be in middle school. it’s a little NSFW, however it’s a painting in order to stay with you. it clearly sticks with my protagonist Nora, whilst she sees it.
2. Welcome to the Black Parade: the album she listened to at the same time as she used to be writing to get all of my angst up to the floor.
3. The Ghent altarpiece: she didn’t get a chance to peer this great polyptych alterpiece by way of jan van Eyck while she was in Belgium (there has been a navy wedding ceremony occurring inside the church) and so she made sure Nora and Alice had the opportunity, albeit a extra dramatic one.
4. Bloomability by Sharon Creech: she studied this book while she used to be more youthful and it totally changed me. She tried to capture the equal sense of wanderlust and falling in love with a place.

5. Harry potter: a series that absolutely impacts Nora and her artwork. and the books that made me—and an entire era—fall in love with analyzing.
6. Lord of the jewelry: so she in no way loved the lord of the earrings books, but she truley appreciated moving into the films as an grownup. Callum, the affection interest of the story, is a far larger fan than she is, though.
7. Nighthawks by Edward Hopper: once She attempted to assume what kind of artist Nora’s grandfather became, my brain went to Edward hopper and his maximum well-known painting that i’ve seen time and again on the artwork institute of Chicago. he—and Nora’s grandfather—each paint lonely human beings and cityscapes.
8. “All too nicely”: my preferred Taylor speedy music and the one she sang over and over while my mind was clogged with writer’s block.
9. Once: a movie that takes vicinity in Ireland and one she watched over and over whilst she used to be trying to write Callum’s talk in an accent.
10. Nimona: my favored web-comic grew to become photograph novel and precisely the kind of art that she imagine Nora looking to attract.
