Poker is about doing something I love. I don't want to force the game on anyone else. Considering all the pre conceived notions however, I want to inform you of the true fun of the game.

Poker is to me as your hobbies are to you. As a former avid chess player, Texas Hold'em seems like the perfect fit. It's the perfect blend of psychological decisions based on previous actions, and understanding consistencies of inconsistencies of tendencies. It's also about understanding sizes and ranges, the more you play, the more you realize that these ranges will help your overall success in not only poker, but in life. Understanding these probabilities and improbabilities will create better decision making. Being adaptive, calculative, and having a little bit of luck, will result in a probable victory in the game of life.

Game Theory Optimal is the optimal way of playing, hence the name. Based on the sizings, positions, and stack depth, it plays the optimal game of NL Hold'em. However, if every player played GTO, theoretically there would be a perfect balance, and it could not be profitable. But nobody plays GTO, because humans cannot attain true perfection. It's simply impossible. You can get very close, but perfection is mutually exclusive from human action. This is why every player has a different style. Just like in soccer or tennis. In tennis, there are serve and volleyers, there are baseline specialists, pushers, etc. Soccer has tall players, small players, fast players, slow players, technical players, etc. The more adaptive, and the larger your skill set, the more probable your success is. Just like in Texas Hold'em. The difference between the sports and NL Hold'em, is the variance. Luck plays a larger part when looking at a small scale. Think of it this way, a professional player can lose to worse player, if that player was to shove all in every hand. It becomes almost like a coin flip, but the professional will most likely have the edge because of the hands he's willing to shove with. It's more PROBABLE he will win, but it's never a certainty. Sporting events are controlled more by human error and preparation, whereas NL Hold'em is a marathon, where if you play the "right way", it will be profitable. It teaches you in life to always be weary of absolutes.

Deductive Logic is the most important skill to have. Am I a great poker player? No, I'm simply a student of the game looking to improve. To consider Poker as a living instead of getting my education would be silly. The most recent epiphany is how important your education really is. Your whole future depends on it. There are diamonds in the rough, but I realize that, based on the probabilities, I am not likely to make it in the Poker world. I realize that there will always be better poker players out there, and that Positive expected value is still not a guarantee.
