A great educational app that I found is, FunBrainJr. This app includes fun education games from ages 2-6. Before you start a game the app asks if the player is a boy or girl, how old they are, and if they are playing with their parents or not. I think this is great so the app knows how difficult to make the game for the player. The app also has different stories, printables, and stickers. This is a free app for Apple products and Androids. This app can benefit students, teachers, and parents, because the students are learning so many different things through games and it keeps them interested. It help the teachers, because everything they are teaching the kids helps them be able to play these games. It helps the parents, because they know their kid is learning.

I have used this app for my children. Its a full online curriculum for children ages 2-8. They teach children how to read, letter recognition, basic math concepts, science, and art and colors. There is 10 levels, over 850 lessons, and more than 9,000 learning activities for preschoolers through 2nd grade. On abcmouse, they have online games, books, printouts, songs, and puzzles. I also think its amazing that they have progress tracking that collects data and creates an easy to read graph that shows progress by academic level and subjects.

After hearing Tanille and many other students talk about himama, I looked into it. This app is amazing. You can do so much on it. There is parent communication where the teachers can share videos, updates, photos, and more. The teachers can also take attendance, make observations, and LESSON PLAN. There is also a spot for daily sheets where you can record activities, meals, naps, moods, bathroom, and notes. The directors can record updates and generate reports for parents. This app allows the director to do billing. Each child gets a portfolio that can be updated as needed. The app itself does not cost to download, but to implement it in a childcare program, the pricing depends on the needs and size. Overall, I believe this is a great educational app for all teachers, directors, and parents.

Since my children are older I reached out to my teacher friends. I got so many responses so I started to go thru each one. The favorite of them all was www.sumdog.com. It's for teachers, students, administrators. Used mainly for children K-8 grade. Teaches Spelling, Grammar and math. This give the teacher a progressive report card and it can be set for groups or individual challenges to reach there targeted goals.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Himama. I had to have my niece that lives in Colorado for an extended period of time at the end of her school year last year and in order for her to be able to pass the class I had to do all of her assignments and pretty much home school her and then have communication with her teacher and turn in her assignments and so forth. It was extremely important for the teacher and I to have fabulous communication and this app helped TREMENDOUSLY. I was even able to see past work of hers and see some of her progression. It did not cost be anything to download this app on my IPad but from research it seems as though the school itself has to pay for their subscription on the site. I know it is definitely something I would invest in for my center because it 100% total open communication from parents and teachers and even students.

I really like hi mama!! You can do so many things on it! You are able to track attendance, build student portfolios, do your assessments and lesson plans, and many other things. Billing can even be done from this app. I would invest in this app for my daycare if I had one. I think it would pay for itself!

An app I used in school that was beneficial to the students, staff, and parents was TeacherEase. This app gave opportunities for parents and teachers to communicate and for all three parties to be aware of grades, reports, or any fees. It was very helpful and reliable.

I like using the Dave and Ava app with my son. It has games and videos to help him learn things such as shapes, colors, and ABCs. He loves watching the videos and even sings along to some of them. At just 2 years old, he knows his ABCs and he can tell me body parts and some of his colors. Dave and Ava have really helped me out!!

The daycare that I'm observing at right now uses the educational app hi mama! I saw we had an assignment on this so I asked the teacher what all it does. She said they use hi mama for attendance, announcements, billing, scheduling, and they even take pictures of your kid doing activities and send them to you! I always saw the teacher taking pictures of students while they were playing and I think that is an awesome way to include parents in on what their kid is doing every day. It also shows what kid of snacks and meals they will be having each day. Another great thing about it is you build a portfolio for each kid so the teacher can keep track of how each child is doing! If I had a daycare I would use this app!

At our daycare we use the Hi Mama app. I love this app and so do parents. This app keeps track of attendance. nap times, diaper changes, supplies needed and meal times. On this app you can also message parents and send parents pictures of the children. When a child is sick you can also just send a quick message to parents and let them know. When doing something fun I will usually take pictures of the children and send them to their parents. They absolutely love getting pictures of their child at daycare. When a child is out of something you can also go to the supplies and put what the child needs and it will automatically send it to the parents. I love this app so much. Its so much easier to just click and put in a diaper change and it already has the time for you and you just click if they were wet, dry, or bowel movement. At the end of the day you just clock them out and send their report. The parents get their notifications all day long if they turn it on or they can just get the report at the end of the day. I highly recommend this app. No more filling out papers all day long or trying to remember everything you need to tell the parents you just go in and put it in hi mama.

At Little Lambs we have an app that we use for parents. We use Hi Mama for ages six weeks through age two. This app does a bunch of wonderful things. You take a picture if the child and use that as a profile pic basically. You can message parents through the app send pics and they can do the same. You put in bathroom times and if they were wet, bowel, dry, applied cream, did they potty in the potty, or have an accident. They also have options to put in what they ate at what meal and how much they ate of it, nap time how long it was when they went to sleep and when they woke up, we can put in supplies of what they child needs; so that the parent has a note of it. Hi Mama is a wonderful app to use!

The app I chose is entitled Breathe, Think, Do with Sesame Street. This app helps teach children self-control, problem solving, planning, and task persistence with the help of their favorite Sesame Street Pals. The app has new and different interactive activities for the children to play each day. There is also a section on the app that helps children regulate their emotions. They can pop bubbles and breathe with the monster to help calm them down. Teachers and parents can utilize this section of the app. This app is also bilingual, so it includes all children. The best part of this app is that it is completely free with no hidden in app purchases. The one downfall of this app is that it is only available on a phone through Google Play or the App Store. However, that is the only downfall I have found so far with this app. The link is below

The app I chose is ABC Mouse. I feel like this is a great way to make learning fun for the children and they can also do it at home and in the classroom. It is from age 2-8 for helping with they reading, math,science skills and they is all so art and coloring on it. The best part is that all of the active are games for the kids to play.

At Little Lambs, we use an app called, Hi Mama. It is an app that we put all of the children and parents information in and they are in our system. As the child moves through the center, they move on up in the Hi Mama app. This app goes and tells parents what the child did for that day, what they ate, when they went to the bathroom, their naps, and any activity that they did throughout the day. Right now we are in the process of learning how to incorporate our daily lesson plans into the app so the parents know exactly what we are working on each day with their child and we can include a photo and then the parents can go home and work on the same lesson that we did at school. It really is a neat app to have for the children and parents.

I like this app because it helps children ages from 2-7 years of age. It helps them with math, english, logic and soci-emotional learning. By all different things books, games, songs and videos. It is aligned with Head Start Early Learning Outcomes and Common Core State standards. It is also free unlike some of the apps where you have to subscribe to go further with it. I would recommend this to my parents of the children I teach.

Where I work, we use this app called Himama. I think this app is pretty cool and is able to put all the children and parents information on it, and they are in our system, we will be able to take a picture of the child and put it on their profile, we will also be able to check them in when they get to the daycare and check them out when they leave through out the day we will put in what the child as ate and how much they ate for breakfast, lunch, and snack. We also put in there what time we have changed them and what they did like if they were just wet or had a bowl movement or had accident and we had to change the outfit, and same goes with the children that are potty trained or just learning to go potty we will also put that in the app, we also will put in there what time they have started there nap and what time they have woken up, we can also take pictures of them and send them to their parents and show them what activities they are doing today. We can also put the lesson plans what we are learning during that week and the parents can see what we are doing with them that week and could help do it at home as well. Another thing awesome about this app is that the parents can also messages us when ever they need to tell us something like if they are going to pick up their child earlier or later or could be just checking in and see how he or she is doing, and we can also message them if we have a question or need to tell them something. Himama is a really cool app to have for the children and parents and for us. I have a daughter that goes to the day care and uses this app and I love it, I am able to see when she took a nap and if she did take one and how long it was, and love seeing the pictures of her makes my day seeing she is having a great day and having fun learning.

As far as I know, my center does not have an app or website for the parents, teachers, directors, and administrators to communicate to each other. While searching for an app, I came across Kindertales. Kindertales is an app that can allow the teachers to alert the parents on when their child is doing a certain activity. It also shows you all of the kids' necessary details in their profile including allergies. The teachers are also able to send out a mass message to all their parents if there is a snow day or if the center was on lock down. You can also take pictures of the children in the center and send it to the parents so that they are up to date on their children's activity through the day.

using Brightwheel would be a great benefit to any daycare. it is a great way of staying in touch with the families as well as letting the parents track what goes on throughout the day involving their child, anywhere to when they ate, how much, and what is was, when their nap started and when they woke up, etc.

Brightwheel is an app that took me a little bit to get use too, but now is something that I love!! This app is something you can access on a phone or tablet and is a way to connect with parents throughout the day. This app allows you to message parents and log different things like potty, naps, accidents, photos, videos, and so much more! This an amazing app especially for centers so that teachers get information like if a child is leaving early without having to wait on the office or someone to come let you know. The app that I found which has the highest reviews out of ANY, is called HiMama. It allows you to check a child in and out, record their activity, food, fluid, sleep, and toileting routines for the day, and leave notes for the parents such as "there is a permission slip for you to sign and bring back tomorrow." Each child has an individual profile and the app allows for parent engagement as well. Additionally, you can add pictures of the child completing activities for the parents to check out on the app. While I have never used this app before, it seems impressive and easy to work with!

Currently at my workplace, we use Montessori Compass. It's good, but I feel that we could do a few things differently. I looked around at some different apps and came upon the brightwheel app. This app manages attendance, billing, enrollment, learning plans, parent communication, and is cloud based, which means it could be accessed from anywhere. So if you are a person that needs extra times doing your lesson plans, you can take it with you to do on your own time!

An educational app I would use is Kahoot! This app is a multiple answer question app that can help with spelling words or quick math, and it doesn't have to be digital! Khan Academy is a must have because it is popular among most of the students, parents and educators because its videos are engaging and targeted at visual learners, using photos, maps, and other illustrations and it allows the kids to work at their own pace. It also has puzzles that test the kids on their comprehension. Khan Academy is free, and it has a lot of benefits. It's for all ages, it has learning with Nickjr. I will for the subscription or of the school pay for it. It has a lot matching, colors, painting, almost anything you can think of, noggin has it. I used to play games, it was book form not computers, and it helped me with colors, names, and just learn everyday after school, It was part of my homework. We need to make homework fun again. I sometimes play kids games because I babysit so I need to learn how to play. This will help those who are nonverbal or those who don't like contact. It's also has two players so that would be fun!

At my center we use Brightwheel. We just recently started using it, but it is definitely something to look into. We are able to allow families to keep track of their child's daily activities, meals, potty times, naps, and so much more. I am using this app as staff and parent and it is super easy to navigate through. As a parent, I can check in on my kids whenever I would like, and I can easily pay my bills. As a teacher, I can add in my daily lesson plans for the week, I can update parents on their child's health screening, and add in incident/behavior reports when needed. This is a great app to keep families involved and updated on day to day things going on.

The app I chose was Illumine. This app helps parents know the schedule foe the day. It helps parents contact the teachers and director through simple text message. We use ChildPlus in our classroom. It keeps track of attendance, we can also put the reason they are not at school, if they were late or picked up early. It has drop downs that allow you to state the reason they are absent, sick, apt, family choice, transportation. This allows our center to determine if a family may need more assistance. We also put in if the child was there or sat at the table to eat. This benefits staff and could benefit families as well if they are missing school due to no transportation or something similar.

At the current private, DCFS licensed facility I work at, we utilize the app, ProCare. This is an affordable, childcare management software we pay for monthly as a private school. The ProCare mobile app is used by both teachers and parents to keep log of each child’s files, communication, attendance, daily agendas, billing, calendars, and daily activities such as pictures, meals, naps, bathroom, incidents, etc. I LOVE using it. It is very simple to use. Getting in contact or relaying important messages to parents is easy and accessible. Every now and then the updates will cause a glitch for a day, but other than that we really enjoy this software compared to others.

At my program (Head Start), we use Teaching Strategies GOLD. Although this does cost money, this is a fantastic way for teachers to create lesson plans, individual child plans, assessments, etc. We use TSG to enter observations of each child and to see where they are developmentally. TSG is aligned to the Head Start learning outcomes framework, empowers individualized learning, continuity of outcomes data, facilitates coaching to support fidelity of implementation.

At my enter we use the creative curriculum and Teaching Strategies. The teaching strategies website have been huge help when creating and implementing lesson plans. Teaching Strategies is is designed to elevate the role of the teacher as a central guide for whole-child development, providing the connected resources and tools needed to truly individualize instruction. My Center pays for the subscription of the program but it have been very beneficial for us teachers.

This app is great for an entire facility to use. You can see all of the students in each room that have signed into the classroom and all of the other rooms as well including infant/toddler. pre-school age, school age etc. You are able to instantly communicate with parents through messaging and pictures as well as communicating with other staff members in the facility. You can keep a log of your hours by signing in and out daily and so much more.

At the daycare I work app we use an app called HIMAMA and through out the day we can log when the kids potty, eat snack or lunch, how long they nap for, if supplies is running low... and anytime during the day the parents can check this app and see how the kids are doing/ what they have done. At the lab I downloaded a couple of apps that the kids love I cannot remember what they are called but the games that kids play work really well. I have seen the kids progress in the learning from fall to now it has been a progress and I cannot wait to see how well they get better at it, plus they were all free. the teachers can help the kids if they are struggling and all and I can not wait to see how much better it gets towards the end of the year for them.

I use this for my 5 year old who will be going to Kindergarten next year. It is great for letter and number recognition. She receives OT to work on her fine motor skills and this is great practice for that too. I only allow my kids to have screen time throughout the week with education apps. - this is a favorite! The app is only $1.99 so this would be a great resource for a preschool to share with parents to use at home too!

At my center we use Teaching Strageties this is a very good program because it has all the bells and whistles in my opinion. Free choice scheduling, individual child plans, ways to enter observations etc

This app seems to have it all. Fun games that are educational in English and Spanish. Games are played with characters from TV shows that children know. This can be downloaded and played offline and it is ad free. This app offers 240+ FREE curriculum-based games for kids ages 2-8. The games cover science, math, Reading, Art, social concepts, and daily routines. I don't have experience with apps for kids. I like that this app is free and the games can be played offline for those who don't have internet access at home.

This is a great app for all ages. It starts with pre-k and goes to grade 6+. It has reading, math, strategy games, holiday games, and printables. It is free and my students LOVED it. Not only can it be used individually to practice content but whole group as well.

I'm not sure which i would use I've seen himama, bright wheel and ProCare. I like all of them. They all have place where you can message the parents. They have where you can enter changes, feedings, and activities. You can post a picture and stuff as well. You can click on certain students as a group or individually.

ABC Mouse is great for kids education. There is a subscription fee, but today everything seems like it comes with a monthly fee so I think it's more worth it to invest in an app that teachers my kids reading, abcs, writing, language, etc. than other app just for TV shows that are way too overstimulating and not very educational at all. -Haley Lovins
