Team Members:

Nadia Bonneville

Jorja Watson

Emily Leonardis

Kate Van Criekingen

Madison Wade

Gabriella Zito

Research:

GoDaddy was founded in 1997 in Phoenix, Arizona.

GoDaddy, which was established in 1997, is a popular domain registrar and web hosting company. It can be considered an all-in-one website builder. GoDaddy's services include registering domain names, web hosting plans, website builders, and various online tools for both individuals and businesses to develop an online presence. Go Daddy is known to be user-friendly, and offers a wide variety of domain names and hosting plans, making it a great choice for beginners and small businesses.

The three things that GoDaddy is best known for are

It's an all in one website builder, it has everything you need to start a small business website or online store.

It has 24/7 support.

It is easy and accessible for any skill level, and walks you through all the steps to publish a website.

It has good security features.

Three limitations of GoDaddy are:

They overcrowd their servers. When too many people are uploading files at the same time, it results in slow websites.

That GoDaddy owns your domain. You would usually have the rights to use it until your lease period is over. But since GoDaddy is a website builder, if you forget to pay for your domain, it is now their property and you risk losing your domain forever. The only way to get it back is to pay an excessive amount of money.

GoDaddy may claim to keep you website protected from security violations but that is not entirely true. Most website services temporally block or report accounts who make too many incorrect log-in attempts. However users and bots can do as many password attempts as they want.

While GoDaddy is easier to use, WordPress is a little trickier to get used to, but it can be learned in a matter of minutes. WordPress is also cheaper and efficient to create an online store whereas GoDaddy has less customization features available and is more expensive. WordPress is also better to use for bloggers and content creators whereas GoDaddy functions primarily as a place to display your products or show off your brand rather than for bloggers. So to summarize, GoDaddy is easier to use in the short term, but offers less. It is meant more for building a website to sell things.

Once the user’s site is created and published, Wix makes it accessible to anyone who enters or clicks on the user’s URL/website.

3.
