This song is what I listened to when me and my ex broke up. Although it was just another high school relationship, I was genuinely hurt by the way we left off. But, this song gave me strength because I knew I was not the only one that had been through a similar situation. This song made me appreciate music even more because I discovered that there is always a song to match your feelings or there is always a song out there that will validate the way you feel regardless of what people around you are telling your or how they are making you feel.

My father passed away December 28, 2020. When he passed away it felt as if I had lost a part of my heart and felt like the person that was my biggest supporter was no longer here to support me so there was no need for me to keep going. I always knew that I had goals I wanted to accomplish and things I wanted to do but when he died, all that went out the window. This song made me remember that no matter how hard life really is, God will always be there and as long as you continue to believe in him and have faith in him, you will be okay! This song gave me the strength I needed in a time when their was no one else here to give me that strength. This song made me believe that I would be okay in the end.

"My Little Love" by: Adele

This song is very touching to me because it talks about the love of a mother. My mom and my biological dad split up when I was about 6 years old and from that point forward life was different. But as the years went by my mom became more open about their divorce and became more open about what happened between them. This song was just another song that made me realize and understand that a lot of people go through the same things. Divorce is such a popular thing in our days and this song was truly touching to me because Adele used actual recordings of her conversations and those were similar to the conversations my own mom had with me when the divorce first happened. This song just made my heart smile and made me remember that their are more people out there that relate to my struggles than what I realized.

This is a song that I like to listen to when people make me upset. This song does curse a lot but my favorite line in this song says, "I can't f*** with none of ya'll *******, y'all disgust me." For a while, I was angry at the world for no apparent reason. I woke up mad all the time and did not want to see the best in people. As I grew on my positivity journey I realized that there will be days that you are annoyed or their will be days that you just do not want to talk to people and do not want to be in people's faces. But, it is all about choosing happiness and choosing positivity. But on the days that I wake up and I am just not in the mood to talk to people and not in the mood to just be super cheerful and jolly, this is the song I would listen to.

"I Gotta Find Peace of Mind" by: Lauryn Hill

I was raised in the DMV (DC, Maryland, Virginia) area, and this type of music is really my foundation. My mom, sister and I would always go to the National Harbor and eat sandwiches and shop but on the way there we listened to people like India Arie, Lauryn Hill and even Erykah Badu. This song gives me so much nostalgia and just grounds me when I feel like I am going off the edge, mentally, emotionally or physically. I have always loved this type of music that talks about genuine love and talks about the genuine hardships of relationships and friendships. This song and this genre of music is connected to so many great experiences in my life and so many amazing situations I have been in.
