Explanation: Emerson uses logos throughout his essay mostly on the first line of a paragraph to draw the reader in. He uses logos in the quote above to tell his audience that no matter what your mind is the most important thing, and nothing else can truly compare to that.

Ethos-
Quote:"Bravely let him speak the utmost syllable of his confession."
Explanation: Emerson uses ethos to make the reader realize their ethics as he draws closer to his main point. In the quote above Emerson explains that in our own American culture we have ethics all through society. One of them being a confession when one does something wrong, and repent for their crimes.

Pathos-
Quote:"Society everywhere is in conspiracy against the manhood of every one of its members."
Explanation: Emerson uses pathos to mentally relate to his audience. In the quote he explains that you must work for what you want accomplished, because society has it pinned against you.
