One of my great-great-grandfathers was born in Czechoslovakia, another in Hungary, and another in Slovakia.
A lot of my grandmother's side was already born in Pennsylvania, so they had several generations of family living in the United States before I was born.
Like other immigrants, they came to America seeking better opportunities than those offered in their home countries. They wanted to escape failing economies, food shortages, and poverty and came looking for jobs, money, and a better life.

The spelling and pronunciation of the last names of people in my family tree can change; this is mainly because of the language barrier that immigrants faced, especially those with uncommon names or ones spelled with a different alphabet.

The rise of America and its ideal world brought forth an idea that those who came to America would live infinitely better lives than the ones that they left behind.
Also over the span of my family tree, both world wars took place.
