My school prepared me well academically. They were very focused on maintaining a good academic culture. They did not prepare me personally. The administration in my school squandered self expression and placed very little emphasis on any talent that did not include athleticism.

I went to a private christian school and overalll I think they impacted me in all four of these areas but if I had to pick one it would be personal developing self-exspression and talent. We talked a lot at my school of what are purpose was as christians and how to make a postive impact on our world and the people around us everyday.

I think during my k-12 experience I was able to flourish in my personal abilities. Whether or not it’s arts or talent, I always have opportunities to do anything I desired to do art wise, in return it made me appreciate my interests and be able to use them in the future. I think academically the schools lacked, I had the good grades, but I didn’t necessarily learn. They just wanted you in and out, in which makes it hard to be able to learn in a classroom setting.

I think that there was very, very heavy emphasis placed on our career and future from the time I was an older elementary school student. I feel that personal interests were of less importance in the school system in favor of the same rigid academic goals.

I believe that my school best prepared me socially and civically. While my school did impart knowledge, I feel that I gained most of my important knowledge on my own. My school was not very focused on vocational skills, and I don't have many memories of developing personally through school. However, I gained most of my social skills, including communication, through my schooling.

I think my school did a good job with personal goals, I felt very confident and like my voice was heard at the school. I think they struggled with academics because they weren't focused on that aspect in school, they were more passionate about making our school look good with sports and clubs and things like that.

I was an Army brat so i moved around every three years my whole life. I attended 9 different schools over the course of 18 years. The schooling i received was of all different types of quality but they prepared me to operate in working world. I have been an English speaker in a predominately Spanish speaking school, and English speaker in a German school and gone to school all over the U.S. and Germany. I had to learn to work well with others and be a part of a group that i sometimes didn't fit into.

I feel like my school best prepared me for a lot of the academics aspect of life after high school, but I feel like they could've prepared me better for the more adult responsibilities that occur when you go off to college/become an adult. During school they just have you worried about academics, but in reality there are other things they should've been preparing us for before they released us into the "real world."

I feel that I will be successful in the needs that my students may have and help them flourish. In my time in school from the early 80’s to the late 90’s there was very little that I did not feel prepared for. Most of us were college or work ready. We knew the social expectations that would be placed on us when we walked out the door.

The only weakness that I could see is that there was not enough emphasis put on special education and students with disabilities.
