He died on August 6th 1660 in <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Madrid">Madrid</a>, Spain at the age of 61 he died of a fever was buried in the Church of San Juan Bautista, which was torn down by the French in 1811.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<h1>Diego Velázquez influenced his country by painting pictures of the royal family of the time so the the family of  King <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philip_IV_of_Spain">Philip IV</a>, who he was the leading artist for. He painted several renditions of historical scenes and cultural significance. Other than painting portraits of the royal family he also painted portraits of notable european figures, commoners, and painted his masterpiece  <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Las_Meninas"><em>Las Meninas</em></a> in 1656. For the first quarter of the 19th century his work was a role model for realistic and impressionist painters specifically <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/%C3%89douard_Manet">Édouard Manet</a>. Since then other famous painters such as <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pablo_Picasso">Pablo Picasso</a>, <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Salvador_Dal%C3%AD">Salvador Dalí</a> and <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Francis_Bacon_(artist)">Francis Bacon</a> have recreated some of his paintings in his honor. Some of his famous paintings include the <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Surrender_of_Breda"><em>The Surrender of Breda</em></a><em>, </em><a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rokeby_Venus"><em>Rokeby Venus</em></a><em>, </em><a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Portrait_of_Innocent_X"><em>Portrait of Innocent X</em></a><em>, </em><a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Las_Meninas"><em>Las Meninas</em></a><em>, and </em><a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Las_Hilanderas_(Vel%C3%A1zquez)"><em>Las Hilanderas</em></a><em>.</em></h1><div><br></div>]]></description>
