         <description><![CDATA[<div>From Thompson's model, Rutherford decided to do an experiment whereby an alpha particle (He particle) is expected to be deflected by the scattered material which is a gold foil of one atom thick. According to Thomson model, Rutherford expected the electron to become deflected even if b=0<br><br></div><blockquote>However, things start to deviate when&nbsp; it is found that for small values of b, the angle of scattering is more than 180°.&nbsp;</blockquote><div><br>So therefore, Rutherford concluded that there is a high intensity of positive charge at the middle of the atom surrounded by electrons. Thus, the concept of the Rutherford model of the atom is born whereby the nucleus which contains the protons and neutrons is at the centre of the atom whereas it is surrounded by electrons orbiting around it.&nbsp;<br><br>However, there is the doom of planetary model as classical physics States that the accelerating electron will release EM radiation which therefore reduces the total mechanical energy of the electron orbiting the nucleus. Therefore, the radius of the electron orbiting will decrease until the electron strikes the nucleus.&nbsp;<br><br>The Bohr's model is then used to fix this planetary doom. </div>]]></description>
