It details that participants were asked to write a story based on a picture, and their submissions were graded on a scale from 1-5. 1 being no sexual content and 5 being high sexual content.

The finding that men on the suspension bridge wrote more sexually explicit stories and were more likely to call the female interviewer (9/18 vs. 2/16, p = .02) supports the hypothesis. This suggests that the physiological arousal caused by the fear-inducing bridge heightened sexual attraction toward the female interviewer.

A finding from the study that supports their hypothesis is the mean of the experimental group being higher than the mean of the control group. That finding shows that the experimental group were more sexual in their responses on average than the control group was, which supports the researchers hypothesis about sexual arousal being more present in areas with high states of physiological arousal.

A finding from the study that supports the hypothesis that sexual attractions occur with increased frequency during states of physiological arousal is the mean sexual imagery scores of 2.47 in the experimental group and 1.41 for the control. This finding shows that the subjects in the experimental group included more sexual imagery in their stores than those of the ones in the control group which means they likely feel more sexual attraction.

This study cannot be generalized to sexual attractions occurring with increased frequency during states of physiological arousal because there are two many other factors that could have led to the results they did. It was not all the same general population and it is stated that, "The experiment suffers from interpretative problems that often plague field experiments. The main problem with the study is the possibility of different subject populations on the two bridges." It also mentions, "Differences could exist between experimental and control populations with respect to personality variables. The experimental population might be more predisposed to thrill seeking and therefore more willing to change phorning a strange female."

The meaning of the experimental groups mean being higher than the control groups mean in this study is that since the group in a high stress environment scored significantly higher on the sexual content measured in the stories written compared to the control group, it means that there could be a correlation between high stress environments and sexual attraction.
