Hyperdocs are one of my most used resources to promote student engagement in the middle school classroom. Hyperdocs are not just digital worksheets - they are well organized lesson plans that require student interaction to complete. Again, while the documents themselves are the tool that makes them successful, I have found the creation of the lessons is the critical part of their creation. One of the essential parts of the hyperdoc is the collaboration of students with each other, whether online of face-to-face. This resources provides a plethora of templates which help make creating the hyperdoc a much easier task. They are guides for including the essential parts of the interactive lessons.

PODCASTING

Podcasting is an easy way to capture the attention of students in middle or high school who have short attention spans with busy lives! The benefits to disseminating information through a podcast is that students can access through their phone anywhere and anytime - and students always have their device with them. This means they are more likely to complete listening to the assignment than sitting in front of a computer. Also, they will be improve their imagination skills because they will be creating visual imagery of the topic that is being delivered. So, students are using technology and devices that they are familiar with (and love!) to engage in your classroom material! Finally, it is a great collaboration tool as students can record what they have learned to share with other students or the world! Middle and high school students are typically looking for ways for their voice to be heard!
