Identity theft is a huge issue in the world today considering technology is evolving and can only indicate further problems making the world more complex and modernized. What surprised me the most is that a lot of scammers go out of their way to make an individuals life miserable which can involve FBI invasions and police. There are many experiences and testimonies from people who have lost everything at one point online and it is a great reminder on why protecting your personal information is vital.

In my personal experience of identity theft, there was a situation when I fell into a scam. This individual wanted me to allow him to create a art piece of my instagram post but in reality he just wanted money and was not a real artist. He at first said that I did not need to pay for anything, then proceeded to ask me for money for the supplies. I sent him $400 because the individual sounded very believable, long story short this caused my bank information to be revealed to him. The next day my bank called me and terminated that account and they gave me a new debit card.

If I were to pass on my knowledge to my grandparents, simply I would tell them to ask me or my father because I am well versed within the online world and the modernization of the internet. It is clear for me to sense when someone is being truthful or is a scam. Another advice I would give is that companies and businesses you may be subscribed to will never ask you for personal information or at least a second time.
