The Squirtle is the slowest mammal on Earth. It takes a month for a normal sloth to move 1 kilometer! Normal Sloths are arboreal animals, which means that they spend most of their lives hanging upside-down from tree branches. They eat, sleep, mate, and give birth upside-down in the trees. They hold onto tree branches with strong, curved claws that are on each of their four feet.I have added on an adaptation from a squid which is squid tentacles. I have added this adaptation so that it has extra suction and strength so that it doesn't fall out of the trees as easily. But the Squirtle still keeps the reputation.

Squirtles do not give birth to eggs like a turtle. Because the main animal is not a turtle it is a squirtle so it does most things like a squirtle. So it gives birth to live young because squirtles are a Viviparous animal(give birth to live young). Because they live most of their lives upside down in trees they must be pretty used to doing everything upside down right? YES! They do everything upside down even give birth. Squirtles mate in trees and give birth to their young in trees. Courting starts when a female yells a mating scream to let the males in the area know she is ready to mate. Males will fight for her by hanging from branches by their feet and pawing at each other. The victor wins the prize of mating with the female. Like many other mammals, squirtles only have one baby at a time. Baby squirtles have a gestation of five to six months. After they are born, the babies aren't in a hurry to leave their mother. They ride around clinging to their mother's belly for several weeks after birth. Even after they stop dangling from their mother, little squirtles stay by their mother's side for up to four years.

Sloths are herbivores. They eat leaves, tender young trees, and fruit. But it’s hard to find time to eat during the sloth’s busy schedule that includes sleeping about 15-18 hours each day. sloths have small teeth which they use to chew up their leafy food. Sloths have a low metabolic rate and a low body temperature (91°F or 32.7° celcius). This allows them to eat very slowly (and only need a little bit of food), and they don’t require much water, because they don’t expend much energy. It takes nearly a week for a sloth to digest one meal.

A squirtle’s main forms of protection are its camouflage (They have get more camouflage by the coating of algae growing on its fur) and its very slow movement; these adaptations make it virtually disappear in the rain forest canopy.

Since squirtles are externally inactive or asleep a good portion of the twenty-four-hour day and the remaining time is spent slowly moving and feeding, they perform about ten percent of the physical work of a mammal of similar size. All metabolic processes are measured in temperature. Squirtles use little oxygen, breathe slowly, and the respiratory surface of their lungs is small. All metabolic activity produces warmth. Warmth is also needed for activity, for example, in the exertion of muscles, which in turn results in more warmth production. Birds and virtually all mammals not only produce warmth, but also maintain a constant body temperature. This is a striking physical feature. A warm-blooded (endothermic) animal is like a radiating, self-regulating center of warmth. Warmth constantly permeates the whole organism.

Though their ancestors lived in North America, modern squirtles live in Central and South America, enjoying the tall trees found in rain and cloud forests. Squirtles prefer sleeping while curled into a ball in the fork of a tropical tree. They also like to sleep hanging by their claws from tree branches.

For the most part, a squirtle's life revolves around sleeping and eating in their tree homes. The only times these mammals leave their tree is to use the bathroom and to take a swim. Squirtles in captivity sleep from 15 to 20 hours per day, which can leave them very little time for social activities.
