I chose the last quote because it just stuck with me a little more than the rest of them. I think the speaker was trying to say that we need to make our names, our own. they are given to us as a gift when we are born but that can't be the only reason they're important. they have to be made important by us and made special by our unique person.

I think this quote means that a tiger is remembered by their skin once they die (since people usually see those kinds of things as trophies), whereas once someone dies, their names are what will be remembered, for example we all know the name "Martin Luther King".

I believe Kendrick Lamar tries to convey keeping everything original from the beginning, so that it could reflect true meaning behind his perspectives, especially in his music career. The speaker tells the audience to be original in their work, and without true determination or hard work, you cannot be successful. From the beginning, he had life problems, such as living in a neighbourhood ridden by poverty and violence, to the point of being rich and having millions of dollars. His whole story is bonded with bounds of failure followed by success from hard work, and he always had a name from the beginning, which he is proud of: Kendrick Lamar.

I chose this quotation because in more recent decades the act of not changing your last name to your husband's has become a kind of feminist act. Previously women would change their last name because it signified ownership to the man and his family. We're re-etablishing the fact that we are only owned by ourselves and the families we were born from are just as important as the ones we marry into.

This quote states how our names is the first thing that brings us to the world. We introduce ourselves to others using our names. Our names should be a gift to everyone including yourself. I think this means that we should be proud of them as they are a part of our identity and what really started our journey in life.

I think this quote talks about how people sometimes associate names with stereotypes in the cultures the names come from. Certain people, because of their names, "aren't suited" for certain jobs or roles, when really anyone can do anything, regardless of their surname.

I chose this one because I've heard it before. I believe the meaning is straightforward, that no one should take another's name because a name represents your identity, and I think the author of it wanted to challenge societal norms because in marriage one person sometimes takes the other's names.
