Activity: "Science Quest Interview"

Objective: Practice forming and asking questions related to science while incorporating video game themes to make the activity engaging.

Duration: 10-15 minutes
Materials Needed: None

Steps:

1. Set the Scene:
   Tell students they are reporters for a science magazine, and their mission is to interview famous scientists who also happen to be characters from popular video games. (For example, "Dr. Mario," "Professor E. Gadd" from Luigi's Mansion, or a scientist from a futuristic video game like Portal or Mass Effect.)

2. Assign Roles:
   Divide the class into pairs or small groups. In each group:

   • One student is the "scientist" (a video game character with a science-related background).

   • The other student(s) are the reporters.

3. Brainstorm Questions:
   The reporters have 2-3 minutes to brainstorm science-related questions to ask the "scientist." Encourage them to focus on topics like:

   • The scientist's research or inventions (e.g., "What inspired you to create the Poltergust 3000?").

   • Their opinion on scientific phenomena (e.g., "What do you think about renewable energy in video game worlds?").

   • Hypothetical science questions (e.g., "If you could design a new element, what would it do?").

4. Conduct the Interview:

6. Debrief:
   After the activity, discuss as a class:
