For example if I went out to survive on my own i would most likely die right away because I don't have all the skills required to do so. If I were in a large group we might run of food and turn against each other. Surviving is hard with many people because if you are attacked there wont be enough space for everyone to hid. It would not be a wise choice to be alone in the wild with no one around you or near, if you get hurt no one will be able to find you to help you and in large communities the food would run out fast and the land will get over populated, So in my opinion it would be better to live with small communities, because there will not be a lot of people and the land will not get over populated, also the you will have people near you  to help you.
