At the end of our conversation in English, I asked him to tell me a joke in English. This led to a bit of a culture shock as I didn't fully understand the joke at first. However, after our video call, I researched it to understand it better and learned something new in the process.

After the first 25 minutes it was time to switch, so we started talking in Brazilian Portuguese. I noticed that Sean had some difficulty pronouncing certain words, such as cachorro (dog). I helped him with the pronunciation, but I felt that he hadn't prepared a script, so our Portuguese conversation focused more on asking me questions about myself - things I liked, what I did, the weather and animals.

Sean complimented my English and said he could understand me without too much difficulty. However, I felt he had a bit more trouble understanding my Portuguese.

Before we said goodbye, we thanked each other for the time we had spent together.

Next time I would like to prepare some visual aids, such as pictures or short videos, to make our conversation even more interesting. And, of course, I'll ask Sean to tell me another joke in English, hoping I'll understand it better this time!

We continued chatting and ended up talking about football. Sean said he would love to watch a football match in person and mentioned that he supports a team from Germany.

After about 30 minutes, we switched to English. To break the ice, I started by telling him a joke I had found and practiced beforehand. I was happy to see that I managed to tell it clearly in his language.

We then started talking about movies. I felt quite comfortable describing one of my favorite films to him, called Sucker Punch. Sean said he would try to watch it, and he also shared that he really liked the film Gladiator and that his favorite actor is Austin Butler. We talked about different movie genres, Hollywood productions, and more.

Unfortunately, Sean said he wasn’t familiar with any Brazilian films and that he didn’t go to the cinema very often. We ended our video call by saying goodbye and exchanging phone numbers so we could stay in touch.

We talked about different ideas for the final presentation, and after sharing some suggestions, we decided to focus on movies as our topic. We both enjoy watching films, so it felt like a fun and meaningful choice.

What I enjoyed the most was how smooth the conversation went. Sean was patient and encouraging, and that gave me confidence to keep talking and expressing my thoughts. I noticed I’m getting better at forming sentences and explaining ideas in English. By the end of the session, I felt proud of myself. I was able to participate actively, and I didn’t let my fear of making mistakes get in the way. I’m excited about the topic we chose and looking forward to working on the presentation together.

During the session, we also had a meaningful conversation about friendship. We asked each other what friendship means to us, what we consider a good friend or a best friend, and the qualities that make a person a positive presence in our lives. It was a very honest and reflective moment that helped us learn more about each other’s values and ways of thinking.

We focused on our presentation, which we need to deliver on May 5th. We discussed the content of our slide, what we should include, and which platform we would use. We chose Canva because it is simple to use and allows us to create clear and creative slides.

Our topic is movies, and we decided to talk about a specific film that we like and that brings us good memories. We also talked about how movies can make us feel different emotions and remind us of important moments in our lives.

In addition to our project, we also talked a little about our week. We shared what we had been doing and how we were feeling. This part of the conversation helped us connect and practice English in a more natural way.

Overall, it was a productive and pleasant meeting. We made good progress on our project and improved our communication skills at the same time.
