They would use the bones of the buffalo to make tools and cutlery, the hides for clothes and teepees, and they would fully utilize all of the meat for eating. Because the bison were the basis of their society and key to their survival, the Sioux respected the animals they were hunting, unlike the american hunters that would decimate their numbers. The men would hunt the Bison on horseback while the women would look after the temporary home front and watch over the children.
