Born January 18th, 1945 in Vancouver, British Columbia

Steven Murray Truscott was a popular, athletic teenager who lived with his parents in the southwestern Ontario town of Clinton. In 1959, at the age of 14, he was wrongfully convicted of killing his 12-year-old schoolmate Lynne Harper. 

Steven was immediately identified as the suspect, even though he maintained his innocence about the incident. Steven gave Lynne Harper a ride on his bike on the day of her death. Steven stated that he gave Lynne a lift to the highway intersection which was about a kilometer away from the town. 

When questioned by the Police Steven stated that he saw a Grey 1959 Chevrolet pick Lynne up from the intersection. The police went into the case with tunnel vision and there was professional misconduct with how the case was handled. 

Steven's trial lasted 15 days and spent 10 years in prison before he was released. Not until five decades later was he finally exonerated. In 1969 Steven changed his name, moved to Guelph, got married and raised his three children.

Born August 31st, 1946 in New Brunswick 

Cheryl Lynne Harper was raped and murdered, her lifeless body was found in the Lawson's Bush on June 11th, 1959. The subsequent autopsy determined that she had been strangled with her own blouse. 

Lynne's accused murderer was Steven Truscott, however it was later found out that the possible suspect for her murder was Sgt Alexander Kalichuk.

Lynne and Steven were classmates at the Air Vice Marshal Hugh Campbell School located on the north side of the Air Force base.

Sgt Alexander Kalichuk has a history of sexual offences, was a heavy drinker, he had 2 convictions of indecent exposure and he tried to lure little girls as young as 10 years old into his car by offering them gifts like new underwear. 

Kalichuk who lived 20 minutes from the Clinton base, was caught in the act of trying to lure Nancy Knowles into his car by offering her underwear. Nancy identified that Kalichuk drove a 1959 Chevrolet. Kalichuk was caught and charged and appeared in court, where the judge released him with a warning.

Stuart Lake highlights the court proceedings where Truscott claims his innocence, and explains how psychiatrists from various prison had examined him and majority of them wanted him to admit that he was guilty.  As well as talks about how a Vision Expert was introduced and backed Steven Truscott's statement on the possibility of seeing a yellow license plate,  making his claim of seeing a 1959 Chevrolet true.
