They can choose based on their interests (natural disasters, animals, science, technology, etc.) and use those magazines for their project. They will then use the text features from those articles to complete their text feature book.


Text features all a constant presence in the life of a 5th grade student. In math, students must use tables do understand output and input equations and word problems. In science, students must use text features to analyze life cycles and habitats. And in reading, authors add text features to enhance the reading experience and provide vital information to the reader.
