Omar Sharif was born on 10th April 1932 as Michel Dimitri Chalhoub in Alexandria, Egypt to a family of Melkite Catholic .

He was a famous Egyptian actor. He was known all over the world. He spoke Arabic, English, Greek, French, Spanish, Portuguese and Italian fluently. His most famous films are Lawrence of Arabia , Doctor Zhivago  and Funny Girl . In his career he won many awards. He was nominated for an Academy Award. He won three Golden Globe Awards and a César Award.
Sharif changed his name and converted to Islam in order to marry the Egyptian actress Faten Hamama. Sharif was a very good bridge player. He died on the 10th July 2015, in Cairo, Egypt.
