This would slow my progress and with the amount of people there, perhaps even the MRT would be filled up on seats and I would not be able to have a seat to enjoy my commute. I think most of the commuters in the video share my sentiments as I see some of them with grimaces and some impatiently tapping their hands or feet, awaiting the arrival of the MRT to get to work or other areas.

(b) My favourite mode of transportation around Singapore is by car. A car provides not only the picturesque view of Singapore that can be appreciated while on the ride but also the privacy of either being the passenger with jut the driver or being the driver alone in the car. I get to enjoy my own music while in the car while taking in the sights of Singapore, relieving any stress or tension I have and having a clear mind. Another mode of transport I favour is the bus. Although the bus does not offer the same privacy that a car does, busses like the double-decker or articulated buses definitely make up for it. The heightened view offered by the former provides a somewhat aerial view of the roads and nearby pavements, allowing me to see more things at once. The articulated bus, on the other hand, is simply quite amusing and fun to ride in, as it gives the feeling of riding in the MRT as well. Lastly, I prefer the MRT to get around Singapore. The MRT, is quite a peaceful ride as it does not have to deal with the traffic that normal road vehicles have to face, and it is quite a fast way to get around Singapore. Passengers usually mind their own business, allowing me to enjoy my music and my serenity.

(c) I agree with the statement. Personal cars, though very convenient, can only take so many passengers, with most only having one: the driver. This results in a huge volume of harmful pollutants getting released into the air such as carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide. These gases contribute to global warming, with carbon monoxide becoming lethal should one inhale too much of it. Hence, cars should not be allowed into densely populated urban areas, such as cities, to preserve the air and reduce health complications. However, I also disagree with the statement as cars are the best way to get around, as it provides privacy and the fastest option should you go by road to any area. Cars are only controlled by the driver, which is usually yourself, and hence, no unnecessary stops needs to be made unlike in buses or MRT, maximising the amount of time you require to get to a certain area punctually. Especially if it is your work or school. I am a natrually a reticent person and am not comfortable with human interaction. I enjoy being alone and allowed to take all the time i need to do a task. 1b) My favourite way to travel around Singapore would be through the use of a private-hire car. Although utilising the services of a private hire car are typically more expensive than using public modes of transport, I still immensely enjoy being in the backseat of a car and enjoy the cold air produced from the air conditioner of the car. Moreover, it is more convenient to use a private-hire car. Public transport have a fixed operating period in a day while private hire cars have no fixed operating schedule with drivers being able to start in the wee hours of the morning or work through the night. This would be more convenient as I would be able to obtain the services of a private hire car at any time of the day compared to public transport. 


1c) I agree with the above statement to a large extent. When more cars are being allowed into the city, it would inevitably result in more atmospheric pollutants being emitted into the atmosphere. These pollutants such as carbon dioxide are greenhouse gases that would trap heat in the atmosphere. This would result in deleterious impacts on the environment as the increase in global temperatures due to the trapping of heat from greenhouse gases causes the ice glaciers in polar regions such as Antarctica to melt. This would cause sea level to rise and threaten low lying countries such as the Netherlands. Furthermore, there would be more extreme weather events which can affect people. According to an article published in Gallup, they stated that 1 in 3 Americans have been personally affected from extreme weather events. People using cars as a mode of transport would lead to an increased transport density inevitably leading to global warming. I would also love to travel around singapore  by cycling. by riding on a bicycle you get to enjoy the air flowing as you ride and breathe the air around you. in addition, you can also go to all routes in singapore that is not reached by public transport such as inside parks. 

another of my favourite would be mrt because its fast. mrt is cheap way to travel and it can travel from one end to another end in less than 2 hours and without traffic congestion.

(c) some people agree that cars should not be allowed in city answers because it is bad for the environment. it produces pollutants that is polluting the air that we breathe making it dirty. cars also produces noise pollution as it drives past. cars also depletes our limitedly available natural resource which is oil. hence it is very bad for the environment.

(b) My favourite way to travel around Singapore is in a car. This is because I feel that it is the fastest route. With public transportation, there is a waiting time for the bus or train which could take a long time. Furthermore, when travelling around in a car, it is more spacious. Whereas if using public transportation, especially during peak hours, the trains or buses could be cramped. 
Another mode of transport I enjoy is the MRT. This is because Singapore has a very dense network of MRT lines, therefore I would be able to travel anywhere I want. Furthermore, the waiting time for trains is usually quite short, so even if I miss one train, I could still catch another one without  the fear of being late wherever I'm going. 

(c) I agree with this statement. This is because in city centres, there is a higher concentration of cars. Hence, there is also much more pollution being caused in the city centre as compared to rural areas. Thus, by banning the use of cars in city centres, we can significantly reduce pollution and delay the consequences of global warming caused by our pollution.  

However, I also disagree. This is because nowadays, due to developments in technology, cars can rely on electricity to function. This means that there is a reduction in carbon emissions, which would mean there is lesser pollution. Hence, the ban of cars would be necessary as they would not be bad for the environment. 3) I agree with this statement to a small extent. I believe that cars should be allowed as they are a more easier and faster way of transport to city centres when it is compared with public transport and it also isn't as crowded as public transport. 

Furthermore, another reason is also because technology has advanced and there are electric cars now as well which does do much harm to the environment.

By taking car rides, I get to enjoy the picturesque view of the streets of Singapore while being peacefully alone apart from the driver. Another mode of transport that I love is by using the bicycle. Using bikes to reach destinations in Singapore is rather enjoyable in my opinion. I can feel the wind brushing against my skin when i am cycling, while looking at the scenery. Cycling also helps me keep healthy, as I need to use energy to paddle the bike to move. Another method of transportation that I favour is by the bus. Just using lesser than a dollar, I can travel from one destination to another. I love sitting alone on the upper deck because of the big windows that let me look at the greenery of Singapore.

3B) my favourite way to travel around Singapore is via the mass rapid transit (MRT) system, as it moves fast and easily accessible as I live right next to a mrt station. It is also much cheaper as compared to taking a private hire vehicle. The MRT system has stations islandwide and it tends to be within walking distance which makes it convenient. Although it tends to be crowded at peak hours, I can still stand in the train and wait for a seat. In the MRT, it is also quiet, clean and safe, making it my favourite mode of transport. I also like to travel on foot as I feel that it is a healthy way to travel around Singapore. Although traveling by foot is much slower than using vehicles, I get to enjoy the various sights and the scenery around Singapore, for example, there was once where I feel bored and decided to walk to pasir ris beach from tampines, it took a while, but I found it enjoyable and felt a sense of satisfaction. For long distances, I like to travel in my parents car as it is the most convenient and comfortable mode of transport as compared to taking public transport.
3C) I think that cars should be allowed in city centres, because in city centres it is a busy place and people would need to use public transport a lot of that do not have a car to use, and at peak hours, the public buses and trains are very packed and crowded. While cars on the other hand is much less crowded and more comfortable.
However I also think that cars damages and pollutes the environment and causes global warming through the harmful gases it emits.as there are many people traveling through the city centre, there would be a large amount of cars, increasing the air pollution. My first favourite is by public buses. For some reason I enjoy long sometimes short travels on busses and unlike MRTs, I'm not underground so I still have proper network connection and like others my age i can play my mobile video games or listen to music without any sort of interference. My second fav is by private vehicles like car. Even though there are many cons if this mean, looking at it from a commuters point of view, it is the quickest, easiest and most comfortable mode of transport imo. 


I think I may have to disagree with this statement as yes it is true that pollution is a effect of cars but it is the easiest form of transport for many . Unlike public transport like buses which stop at bus stop every 2-3 mins , it's just a onw way route by cars . 
Furthermore, we could reduce the effect of pollution of cars by methods like using electric cars . One example is Tesla . These cars run on electricity meaning that it completely prevents pollution. While these cars may not be under everyones budget maybe the government could reduce the price of coe or even completely remove it so people would have electric cars as one of their options when buying cars. I would feel impatient as well. In the video one of the elevators are fully packed with commuters, and there were no room to walk.if I am in a rush and I face situations like the one in the video I think I will get very frustrated because I have to wait for a long time yet cannot do anything about it

B) I like to travel by bus because I get to appreciate the scenery outside the window and it reduces my stress. Every time I travel back home from school by bus, I always feel that All my pressure will vanish after the ride.

I like to travel by mrt, not only because it is cheap, but it is efficient as well. Sometimes when I am in a rush, mrt will be my choice. Last year, when I woke up late for my maths end of year exam, I chose to ride mrt and fortunately I arrived 1 minute before the exam started.
 
C) I think cars are still necessary in city centers. If all people were to take public transport in the core of the city, which is the most dense area, all the public transports such as mrt and buses will be packed hence people have to wait for a long time to get in. Moreover, not all people are good with getting themselves in a packed area. Public transports’ emissions like buses are also bad for environment.

(a) I would feel very uncomfortable as there are so many people in the same train station. From the video, I see that it would be very difficult to exit the train as about another 100 people are also exiting at the same stop. If I were on the train, I would be struggling to stay calm.
However, if I were a normal commuter, I would not be affected as this would be an everyday routine for me whenever I board and exit the train.
(b) My favourite way would be using the car. My father usually drives me to school every day and I feel it is more comfortable than using the bus or train as it is awkward to sit right beside someone who I do not know. However, using the train is not as bad as it travels very fast and I would be at my stop within minutes whenever I come home from school. Using the bus is my most common mode of transport, however the bus takes a long time to arrive and it is usually crowded most of the time.

They might also feel a stronger connection with other residents as they discuss the decor and perhaps even about attending the parade itself.

(b) Singapore's National Day symbolises the independence and freedom gained by our forefathers through negotiations with our former British colonial masters. Just this alone means quite a lot to both me and my family as we are proud to be able to advance so much and so far since our independence as compared to other small and young nations. Singapore is one of the most technologically advanced countries and is much further ahead in other sectors, allowing for its citizens such as myself and my family to be able to live in this country quite peacefully and with comfort. National Day itself is a constant reminder that we as Singaporeans should band together as one in order to build and protect our nation. Especially from external threats such as those faced during World War 2 , namely the Japanese Occupation and the horrors that followed. 

(c) I think it is very important for all nations to celebrate national days as it instils a sense of identity and belonging in the citizens. With more patriotic people, they would want to work for the good of the nation and gather with more like-minded people. This might motivate them to take up government positions and put in place changes of policies or introduce new ones to better the lives of the people. There was too much crowd at the MRT station. While travelling, we can enjoy the scenic beauty of nature and the landscape. Public Bus and MRT couldn't reach places like sungei buloh. Hence cars provide a convenient way to travel. I also enjoy traveling in public bus as sitting in the double deck bus, I can also enjoy the beauty of nature around Singapore too.

(c) I agree to a small extent that cars should not be allowed in city centres because city areas are busy places and personal transport is needed to minimise the time losses which can lead to loss in productivity of a company, or even countries. Especially during peak hours, those who worked in city areas would waste time spending on traffic congestion. Government implementation of Electronic Road Pricing (ERP) was effective to bring down congestion in the city areas. However, trains and Buses would also be packed during rush hours. Thus those who worked in city areas must have a car to prevent being late for work.

However, cars should not be allowed in city centres as it damages and pollutes the environment. The high emission of pollutants such as carbon monoxide would result increase in the rate of global warming.

There seems to be no transport authority seen to be ensuring that people move in a efficient manner so that they can clear the MRT station without hurting anyone and before the next crowd of passengers alight and board. I have personally taken this MRT station on the way to school and I have felt fustrated whenever there is a jam as I am more concerned towards reaching school on time. I also had to miss a few trains as they were jam packed with passengers. Long queues outside the train doors can be seen. Everyone also seems pressed for time to reach their workplace, as I can see that most people are claded in their work attire. 

(b) My favorite way of travelling around Singapore would be the train. Other than the fustrating jam that happens every peak hour, I find train rides to be quite decent. Firstly, there is air-conditioning which allows for a more relaxed journey, and helps to beat the heat of Singapore's weather. Train timings are more reliable as there is are fixed intervals between each train arrival which helps me in estimating the duration of my journey and how much earlier I have to reach home. Lastly, Singapore's MRT lines are interconnected, so changing from line to line does not make it confusing with the help of the MRT map and the signboards at every MRT station. My second favourite mode of transport would be the bus. I get to enjoy the beautiful scenery and I also like how spacious the bus is. Lastly, I like travelling by walking. Not only it is a good form of exercise, it helps me to take my mind off things and I get to take a break.

For example, I usually travel in my father’s car with my family on the weekends to spend some family time together. Since only my loved ones are in the car, I feel comfortable and I can freely talk to them about anything without worrying about anyone else overhearing our conversation. Also, I don’t need to squeeze in with so many people like on public transport just to arrive at my destination so it doesn't feel suffocating.

(c) I agree as the gas emitted from cars is harmful to our health. If there are too many cars in the city centre, more gas will be emitted and we might breathe in more harmful gas, causing us to have breathing difficulties and respiratory illnesses. So, by not allowing cars in city centres, people will have lesser respiratory problems.

As someone who enjoys solitude especially when travelling alone, having to walk through large crowds and squeeze into the train does not sound appealing to me. As an example, I often feel very overwhelmed and disturbed when being pushed around by large crowds at MRT stations when I commute to school every morning. This leaves me feeling disturbed and uncomfortable as I can’t travel in peace.

(b) My favourite way to travel around Singapore is by car. Not only is commuting by car very time efficient, it is also fuss free. By using a car, I don’t have to think about which bus I have to take to get me to my destination. This allows me to rest for a little bit during my commute, especially after long days. As an example, by using a car to travel back home from school, it takes 15 minutes less compared to a bus. 

However, I also like to travel by bus. Riding buses allow me to enjoy the scenery as I pass by certain places, unlike MRTs, where certain stations are located underground. At a very young age, I often ask my father ti go on bus rides with me. Now, riding a bus gives me the chance to reminisce about the past as we don’t have the chance to go on bus rides together as often anymore.

(c) I don’t think cars should not be barred from entering city centres. Both private cars and private hire cars such as taxis are very time efficient modes of transportation. To most, it is their main mode of transportation. With advanced technology and new equipments to reduce harmful by cars, the impact left by cars on the environment is significantly reduced. These harmful gases include carbon monoxide. Moreover,  with the increase in the number of electric cars, emission of these gases are even more reduced. This results in an even smaller impact  on the environment.

However, others may disagree. Even with equipment such as catalytic converters, harmful gas emissions have not been reduced. This can be caused by the increasing number of cars on the road daily, especially in city centres. Moreover, electric cars are not exactly a viable option for many as it can be costly. Overall , this increases pollutants in the air. This reminds me of a time when i stepped outside of a mall and saw numerous cars stuck in a traffic jam. Followed by that was a strong smell of gasoline. It was very unpleasant and surprising because I’ve never thought I would experience such a thing in Singapore. Thus, this shows how much of an impact was made on the environment .

Secondly, it is more convenient to use a car as it does not have a fixed operating timing as compared to public transports which have. For example, if my family and I were to go out till midnight, we would not be able to take public transports back home as they would have stopped operating. Hence, a car would be suitable for us as we can have the freedom to go back home anytime we want.

(c) I agree with the statement. In city centres, there are many cars on the roads all day, which would cause a huge amount of carbon monoxide to be released into the surrounding air, and eventually contribute to global warming. Furthermore, carbon monoxide is harmful to one's health and could cause serious health problems such as asthma.

There are also heavy traffic jams at peak hours and even electronic road pricing at central business districts. On the other hand, the mrt is also a good way to travel since it is less expensive than a car and is relatively fast. However, it will be extremely crowded and packed during rush hours. Lastly, taking the bus may be the cheapest option, however it is also the slowest one. Thus i do not like to take the bus unless I have to go to places that do not have mrt stations nearby since there are a lot more bus stops than mrt stations.

Despite the fact that some cars are bad for the environment, nowadays as technology is getting more advanced, there are electric cars that are made to be run by batteries instead of fuel. The creation of electric cars has been decreasing global warming, and is better for the environment, with lesser toxic fumes released into the atmosphere. It is usually less crowded and tranquil as a result of less stations. The view from the LRT is astounding, as it is designed to cater to tourists as well, from a higher elevated level.  I also enjoy taking cars. Cars are private and personal, and I can customise it to my liking. The seats of the cars are also much softer, which is much better than the hard seats of public transports. Cars are also much cleaner, due to the less influx of passangers. Cars also do not need to stop at stations, which means it is much more convenient to traverse Singapore.

I agree as cars emit much greenhouse gases such as carbon monoxide, which can bond which red blood cells in the human body and preventing them from transporting oxygen. This can lead to devestating effects, as it can lead to lung problems, difficulty breathing, headaches, and even deaths. This is caused by too many cars, where the impact will scale with the number of cars. Thus, too many cars are bad for city centres as it is much urbanised with many people, which can be very harmful to the peoples' health.
I disagree as many implementations are placed in Singapore to prevent traffic congestion. CCTVs are monitoring roads, which can help to inform drivers which part of the city centre is congested.   •  Some of the people were putting up the National Day decoration and they were all putting in their hard work to show off their pride of being Singaporean. There are many detailed decorations and their effort can be seen with their commitment to Singapore. I think that for residents and passers-by, they appreciate the place being decorated. They would also be able to learn more about Singapore as the timeline of history of Singapore is put up. For the elderly, they may also appreciate the walk down memory lane as the decorations of kampungs are put up to show the progress of Singapore. 
  • Singapore’s National Day allows my family and I to celebrate Singapore’s independence as we appreciate the progress that Singapore has made. It allows my family to look back at the old times as my grandmother and father would share stories of when they were younger and how life was like in the past. It allows me to bond with my family as I learn more about them and what life was like for them, learning history from their point of view apart from academics. It also serves as a break for our family, from work and school, as we are able to bond and share memories.
  •  I think it is very important for countries to celebrate national holidays as it serves as a reminder for people to remember their heritage and culture, as well as allow the younger generation to be able to learn about the history of their country. It is a form of patriotism, and allows the elderly to reminisce and look at the progress of their country.     I do not think secondary school students like me should fully concentrate on their schoolwork but spend time learning other thing like how to dance. The students must develop soft skills and learn how to live out their lives, instead of mugging behing books every day of the week. While looking at the decorations, they might be thinking about how fortunate they are to be Singaporeans and also feel a sense of belonging in Singapore. 

    (b) Singapore's National Day means to my family and I as an annual celebration of Singapore's independence. Since young, my parents and grandparents have always been telling me about Singapore's history and how Singapore has changed over the years. Through these, I have learnt to appreciate whatever that Singapore has to offer to the public and not take them for granted as these were not available in the past. Furthermore, National Day means to my family and I as a day where we look back at Singapore's past and be grateful for the efforts that Singapore's forefathers had put in to build the present Singapore. 

    (c) I think it is important for countries to celebtrate national days. National day is a day where all citizens come together as one nation to celebrate a country's independence and create a sense of belonging to a country among citizens. Moreover, citizens of a country come together as one nation to learn about the challenges that Singapore faced in the past and give thanks to Singapore's forefathers for building the present Singapore. They can be seen smiling and laughing, which shows that they are enjoying themselves. They also looked  curious as to how things could move in such ways, and are eager to find out more.

    (b) I think that it is a good idea for children to learn a lot of new skills at an early age. When children are young, almost everything is new to them and this makes them curious and wonder what is going on around them. So, when they learn new skills, they will be able to pick up the skills quicker and learn more skills. Furthermore, they will have more time to practise and improve on the skills that they have learnt so that they can use the skills well in life as they grow. 

    (c) I agree that students should concentrate on their schoolwork instead of spending time on learning other things. Students should concentrate on their schoolwork as their national exam determines where they will go for their post-secondary educations. Furthermore, Singapore's educational institutions value academic grades more than talents and interests when admitting students into the institutions. Hence, by concentrating on their schoolwork, it will allow students to have more choices and opportunities to decide where to go for their post-secondary educations. 
    However, I also disagree that secondary school students should concentrate on their schoolwork instead of spending time on learning other things. Students should concentrate on learning other things as it allows them to find their interests and talents. Not every job requires one to have good academic grades, such as jobs related to sports and arts. It is still possible to get a good job and make a living without having good academic grades. It would be very hard to board the train as there is a lot of people that are pushing each because there is very little space to move. Trains might also be too full to board. This may cause me to be late. This can be seen from the video as there are many people rushing in and out of the train which suggests that they might be late.

    b) my favourite mode of transport around Singapore is by car, as it is more convenient being able to travel anywhere through a direct route. Unlike trains or buses where it takes detours, using cars will get to your destination faster.

  • I would feel irritated and uncomfortable if I were one of the commuters like the people in the video. During rush hour, there are extremely large crowds in the MRT station. I would feel irritated by people pushing their way through the crowd even though it is very obvious that there is not much space to move in. As there is little space in the train during rush hour, I would feel uncomfortable because my personal space would be invaded and other people would be standing very close to me.
  • My favourite way to travel would be by car because there is a better sense of privacy, making it more comfortable. However, the cons of travelling by car is that it is not very environmentally friendly. Cars release greenhouses which can harm the environment. If many choose to travel by car, there would be a build up of harmful gases released into the atmosphere. Another way would be by train, since Singapore is very connected through train stations and everywhere is accessible by train. However, during peak hour, the trains are very packed as it is a public transport and many depend on taking the train to travel around and it might be uncomfortable to squeeze with other people. 
  • I do not agree with the statement, despite the fact that cars may be bad for the environment, technology is evolving and electric charging cars are getting more popular and used by people. Electric cars do not require gas to run and instead use electricity. It is better for the environment as less toxic gases are released into the atmosphere. Not allowing cars will also decrease the productivity of workers in Singapore as a high percentage of people travel to work to avoid the crowded public transport, which also allows them to reach work on time and can start work promptly. Moreover, not allowing cars means that public transport will be more crowded and less efficient. Each public transport vehicle has a maximum capacity and if there is an increase in people taking public transport, there might not be enough public transport vehicles to accommodate the increasing number of people taking public transport.

    b. Singapore’s National Day is a bonding day to my family and I. Since we often get tickets to the National Day parade, we attend the parade and enjoy ourselves together as a family while celebrating the nation. 
    c. I think it is important for countries to celebrate national days because it allows citizens to appreciate what the nation has done for them. It reminds citizens of the achievements and hardships the country has gone through together and they will learn to be more appreciative of the country. Celebrating national day also fosters greater bonds and stronger connections between the people. However, it might not be important because
