Topic: Texas Abortion Law

Context: Five Supreme Court Justices allowed a Texas Law to go into effect that allows private citizens to sue anyone who preforms, aids, or assist an abortion on a fetus that has a detectable heartbeat for $10,000. The Supreme court refused to block the Texas law prohibiting most abortions. (TNYT)

Liberal Perspective: The Liberal (left) does not support the law banning abortions, many people have protested their rights as a women to have control of their own body. The leftist say it is unconstitutional, many democratic rights activist press Pres. Biden to stop the Texas Law. The Justice Dept. is urgently looking for options to protect the constitutional rights of a woman and their access to abortions.

Evidence from Liberal Media: ""You probably didn’t know this when you went to sleep last night, but you’ve woken up in a world in which 12 million women do not have the right to control their own bodies" (The Flip Side)
"So, on the one hand, women have a right to control their own bodies, but on the other, states can at least temporarily take that right away, cause clinics to shutter, and threaten women with harassment and lawsuits. Is this even a constitutional right anymore? Or are we already living in the dystopian future that we’ve feared would come to pass?” (New York Magazine)

Conservative Perspective: The right supports the new the law of prohibiting abortions, all republican state legislators from deep red states have been passing several laws to increase restrictions on abortions. The Conservative side believes in pro-life meaning they do not agree with abortions (anti-abortion). The Conservative Lawyer Jonathan F. Mitchell vowed if he ever got the chance to help develop a law against abortion he would ensure it heard in the Supreme Court and action is taken.

Evidence from Conservative Media: "As of today, Gallup also finds that 67 percent of American believe abortion should be either completely banned (19 percent) or in place with limitations (48 percent)." (The Flip Side)
"Of course, the more science learns about the unborn and the earlier technology can keep babies viable outside the womb, the more untenable the pro-choice position will become. If abortion advocates truly believed they would prevail in a ‘democracy,’ they wouldn’t need Roe and they wouldn’t be terrified about the prospects of its demise.'" (The Flip Side)
"he pulled it off is a story that brings to life the persistence of the anti-abortion movement and its willingness to embrace unconventional approaches based more on process than moral principle." (NYTimes)

My Perspective: I disagree with the abortion ban, I believe women should have authority over her body not the decision of a man. Unfortunately women have gotten raped and pregnant from the rapist. People want to say that wearing masks is their choice because it's their body but want to decide what a woman can do with her body. I think it is the decision of the individual, it is their right and their body no one else's. Some mothers can't afford the raise a child as they wish and can't imagine giving up their baby to a stranger or to the government that will do poorly raising them.

Topic: Democratic Tax Plan

Context: House Democrats want the government to spend more, and in order to do that, they revealed a proposal for tax hikes on big corporations and the wealthy. This would help the government gather more spending money, as well as contribute to people in need using welfare and other government funded plans.

Liberal Viewpoint: The left generally supports the tax increases on the proposal, and agree that this would help increase government involvement, but they also argue that more taxes are needed on other issues to fund more government spending.

Evidence from Liberal Media: "While corporate America has enjoyed booming profit growth and soaring stock prices, inflation-adjusted wages for workers have barely budged. The disparity is now starker than ever: Companies are minting record profits while millions of full-time workers struggle to get by… The private sector has had decades to tackle this problem. It didn’t. Now it’s government’s turn."(Washington Post)

Conservative Viewpoint: The right opposes the tax increases on the proposal, and argues that that the wealthy have been shouldering a larger cost of government, arguing that the tax increases would eventually be passed on to the middle class.

Evidence from Conservative Media: "Though the changes are all meant to target high-income taxpayers — who already pay a share of federal income tax that is far in excess of their share of income — according to the [Joint Committee on Taxation], less than half of the new taxes collected would come from high-income individuals. The rest would come mainly from businesses, which invariably pass those costs on to their employees, customers, and business partnersas far as they are able…"(National Review)

Your Take: The Tax Plan needs to have more restriction in who and what it taxes, to make sure that only the targeted wealthy get taxed. Including taxes on more issues to put in the proposal would not be recommended, because of the backlash it could have among the people instead of the support expected from taxing the wealthy/big businesses only.

https://www.theflipside.io/archives/immigration-3

Context:A U.S. federal judge in Texas on Friday blocked new applications to a program that protects immigrants who were brought to the United States as children from deportation

Left side:The left calls for Congress to tackle immigration reform and argues for more humane immigration policies at the border.:“We should use every tool in our legislative and parliamentary toolbox to provide a real pathway to citizenship… And that includes using the budget reconciliation process… it is not unprecedented for reconciliation legislation to include immigration reforms, either. In fact, a Republican-controlled Senate did it in 2005 when changes to immigration policy were included as part of a larger budget reconciliation package.”.The country needs more immigration pathways that are fair, humane, fast, adequately screened, with clear and consistent eligibility criteria, and deliberately crafted to be in the country’s economic and national security interests. Such an overhaul requires an act of Congress, which has refused to do its duty for decades.”“If we cut what we’re spending on immigration detention by 80 percent and reallocate half of the remaining budget to programs like FCMP, we can ensure the integrity and effectiveness of our immigration system while also respecting migrants’ humanity.”

Right:The right agrees with the decision striking down DACA, arguing that it is a matter for Congress, and criticizes Biden’s border policies.:“This obviously should rule out the kind of amnesty Democrats are talking about, which would cover ‘Dreamers,’ those eligible for Temporary Protected Status, and ‘essential workers.’ Democrats have advocated a pathway to citizenship for illegal immigrants for decades now, but never have they said that we must create one primarily as a budgetary matter — as if the status of illegal immigrants is a question comparable to the level of Medicare hospital reimbursements or unemployment benefits…
“If the amnesty-via-reconciliation would be a bad process, it would also be terrible on the merits. At least previous so-called comprehensive immigration bills made a show of emphasizing enforcement as the trade-off for an amnesty, whereas Democrats now want only amnesty. It would flash another green light to would-be migrants to come here illegally.”“Biden has ordered U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement ‘to focus on arresting and deporting immigrants assessed to pose a risk to national security; migrants recently apprehended along U.S. borders; and those convicted of certain crimes who have been released from federal, state or local jails.’ Since it will take years for these asylum cases to be settled, and the migrants making these claims will almost all be living far away from the border, unless they commit a major crime, Biden has already promised they can stay forever…“Migrants in Central America know this. And word is spreading around the world. Illegal immigrant apprehensions on the southern border from countries other than Central America or Mexico have skyrocketed from 7,890 in December to 47,224 this June… the crisis at our southern border is a direct result of his open borders policies.” most importantly, institute mandatory use of E-Verify by employers so that only people legally in the country can work. Change wouldn’t happen overnight, but within a few months, people who want to come north would learn the golden ticket to prosperity is out of reach. The fact that Biden is unwilling to entertain any of these options speaks volumes.”

My Perspective:I agree with the left side they should have humane policies at the borders for immigrants and shouldn't be cruel to them and to treat them equally and to have a job and to not separate families that's just cruel.

Both Olaf Scholz, the SPD’s chancellor-candidate, and Armin Laschet of the CDU/CSU have claimed a mandate to try to form a government. Both have their eyes on three-way deals with the Greens and the liberal Free Democrats: either a “traffic-light” coalition led by the SPD or a “Jamaica” combination headed by the CDU/CSU. U.S. forces could be fighting bloody gun battles with Taliban forces while trying to evacuate civilians, but that's mostly not been the case due to Taliban forbearance. The situation could be much worse, and might go that direction if the United States doesn't honor its commitment.”

Right Side (Republican Party) -
On the other hand the Republican party has seen the evacuation of troops from Afghanistan as an event that can make the Taliban become more courageous in taking over the country, this event will be a dangerous move and the Republican Party knows it, yet President Biden is being seen as someone who is letting the Taliban run free like Tom Rogan stated, “Alas, no. Biden's unmoved deadline will boost the Taliban's growing confidence that it holds a stranglehold over the strategic initiative. The president has made it more not less likely that the Taliban will escalate its obstruction of the evacuation. Biden has made it more not less likely that the Taliban will enable or otherwise tolerate attacks on the airport by its Haqqani network allies or even its erstwhile nemesis, the Islamic State. The perception of American weakness is fuel to the jihadist fire. And Biden has just delivered a supertanker's worth of it.”

The Right Side (Republican): "The right opposes the proposed tax increases, arguing that many of them would eventually be passed on to the middle class". They disagree with the plan because wealthy and rich/successful business already have to buy a high percent for tax every year and the government want to increase it!

The Left Side (Democratic): "The left generally supports the proposed tax increases and argues that additional tax reforms are necessary to fund needed spending". They agree because the tax from the wealthy and rich business help the US with important problems to fix and they need money for it.

The Centrist: "The proposed top tax rate would revert to 39.6% on individuals earning more than $400,000, or $450,000 for couples, and there would be a 3% tax on wealthier Americans with adjusted income beyond $5 million a year. For big businesses, the proposal would lift the corporate tax rate from 21% to 26.5% on incomes beyond $5 million, slightly less than the 28% rate the president had sought.”

The most important point of view (ME): I don't think the democratic plan should be past because I don't it fair the rich and wealthy business have to give more money when they already give enough money and they also need to save money for future projects, not giving it away to the government. I think the government should try to find another way to make money than increasing money because in the this will make many people mad and might be a negative affect in the future.

After months of being in office cuomo was later resigned from governor and with Gov. Kathy Hochul is on deck to replace Cuomo.

Liberal Perspective: The left supports the idea of trying to keep the mayor to stay in his position until the end of his term because at a time of pandemic like this and at the states level of cases it’s important that we need a leader and someone to take control of many immunity protection, nursing homes, new policies, mandates, and crises with hospitals all over the states and increasing numbers in the city. New York cant afford another loss with all that is left

Evidence from Liberal Media: “Last March, many state legislators were shocked to find sweeping immunity protections for nursing homes and hospitals in the state budget. Some had been notified about the last-minute additions hours before voting; others had no idea the language was there until after the budget passed… [Hospital] lobbyists, according to many lawmakers aware of the process, crafted the language for the provision. [They] also lobbied for [the] controversial March 2020 directive that ordered nursing homes to readmit residents who had tested positive for Covid-19.”

(Ross Barkan, The Nation)

Conservative Perspective: The Right believes that governor cuomo should be removed from office immediately since he acted a violation and saying that he is a liar and manipulating Democrats. What’s more, in the case of Anna Ruch, we have an actual photo of the behavior — and Ruch’s facial expression makes clear that she is not welcoming Cuomo’s hands on each side of her face…

“Andrew Cuomo is an impulsive, temperamental, sometimes-raging, often-bullying egomaniac prone to spectacular failures of self-awareness, and it’s notable that no one who knows the governor is exclaiming, ‘Talking to female underlings about their sex lives and pressuring them for a relationship? That just doesn’t sound like the Andrew Cuomo I know!’”

(The Editors, National Review)

My Take: Governor Cuomo should be removed from office and have his position taken away. Under his oath he has lied to his citizens and left out information to his people.

Context: Ivermectin is an anti-parasite drug that is used to treat river blindness and intestinal roundworm infections in animals. The largest and most reputable clinical trial to date found the drug offered no clinical benefit whatsoever, and much of what’s been sold as promising evidence to the contrary has been debunked. Meanwhile, increasing reports of emergency room visits, poison control calls, and significant side effects associated with off-label ivermectin use—largely among patients unwilling to get vaccinated against Covid-19, even as hospitalizations and deaths climb—have become downright alarming.”
Natalie Shure, New Republic

Conservative Perspective:The right acknowledges that there is little evidence ivermectin is effective at treating Covid, but also notes that it is generally safe if taken as prescribed.

Evidence from Conservative Media: “Comedian Joe Rogan went on social media Wednesday to inform fans he contracted COVID-19 and list the medications he took, including monoclonal antibodies, prednisone and an antiparasitic drug that has recently prompted federal health warnings… The Food and Drug Administration [FDA] and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have urged consumers against the use of ivermectinas a COVID-19 treatment after poison control centers nationwide reported a sharp uptick in people facing serious health effects after taking animal formulations of the drug.” Fox News

My Take: I think that nobody should be using ivermectin to treat COVID-19 since the drug was made specifically for horses not for humans and since there’s not enough evidence on what consequences it can have if humans take it for all we know it could worsen the condition of those who have COVID-19 or cause other health problems.
