         <description><![CDATA[<div>It is realized that before the adaption of the design, the following questions are raised which need to be investigated to give directions and necessary input for adaption of main particulars.  </div><ol><li>The length of the tug from the original design is 75m, which seems fairly longer than normal tug boats. Therefore some reference vessels shall be investigated to deepen the understanding. </li><li>Is it a normal practice of tugs to pull the assisted large size offshore vessels in ice area? </li><li>Further investigate reference vessels of sea going tugs with ice class on the following aspects:<ul><li>propulsion systems are used: engine power, engine types, main and auxiliary engines</li><li>propellers and bollard pull, speed</li><li>fuel storage and endurance </li><li>deadweight and GT</li><li>POB and autonomy </li><li>usage of ballast water </li></ul></li><li>Based on above investigation to determine the new main dimensions and characteristics of the Tug. This will be the base to determine or estimate input to PIAS stability analysis. </li></ol><div>The investigations and findings are address in Chapter 3.1 and resulting adaption of the main particulars and GA are described in Chapter 3.2 and Chapter 3.3. GA will be drawn later on in parallel to PIAS stability analysis.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>When the main dimensions are defined,  a rough hydrostatic analysis is done on excel sheet to elaborate the main dimensions, displacement and deadweight. <br><br>Afterwards, three times lines plan are input to PIAS Hulldef module due to the following reasons:</div><ul><li>Original lines plan is input (Week 1)</li><li>Lines plan is scaled according to 1st Design  (Week 2) </li><li>Lines plan are scaled according to adjusted main dimensions of 2nd design (Week 3). </li></ul><div>Quite some hours are spent on the determination of the VCG of the tug. The hull shell and bottom steel weight is referred to the first design which is scaled up to the new dimensions. Remaining hull weight including coating, insulation, accommodation, etc. as well as the equipment weight and COG are estimated based on reference vessel data, main equipment supplier’s data and previous project experience being a design and cost estimation engineer. Results are shown in Chapter 5.2. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>To be able to give input to PIAS loading module, standard loading conditions are defined in Chapter 5.2. PIAS loading module is then explored and Intact stability is checked. Results are address in Chapter 5.3. It is understood that in this phase of study only basic intact stability requirements will be explored, so that other conditions relating to free surface effect, weather critieron, ice allowance, towing heeling moment etc. are out of the scope of study. </div><div>It is however concluded that the tug boat is very stable and will not topple even at maximum allowable heeling angle of 85 degree. But it is hard to say what will happen when towing deduced heeling moment is also introduced. <br>Besides, it is possible to consider to reduce the beam of the vessel, detailes see Chapter 5.3. This is noted as attension point in the coming period of time. </div>]]></description>
