After a delicious lunch in the school dinner hall the students heard from an impressive line‑up of speakers including Julie Kapsalis MBE (CEO & Principal at North East Surrey College of Technology (NESCOT)), Ellie Bishop‑Williams (Artistic Director Project Female Brighton (dance creative)), Amanda Collier (former Police Detective and Traitors contestant) and communications expert Flo Powell (MD of Midnight Communications, Brighton).

Each speaker shared their personal journey, achievements, and the challenges they have overcome, encouraging students to think boldly about their future pathways.

The conference also includes a Q&A session, where the students were encouraged to ask thoughtful questions and engage directly with the speakers - an invaluable chance to build confidence and broaden their understanding of career opportunities.

We are delighted to be able to offer this experience to our Year 10 girls and would like to share this feedback from one of them:

I would first like to thank you for the trip today, I had an amazing time and felt very enlightened about how to gain confidence.

I would like to say 'it was amazing to hear about women in the workplace and about how to grow in my skills about working in male dominated fields and positions that might not be ideal for women.'

Tomorrow’s Women Conference 2026 Give to Gain – Burgess Hill Girls

After a fairly standard first half, the score was 1-1, both teams having squandered chances and given away goal scoring opportunities. After a productive half time chat and a change of tactics the goals began to flow with the scoring spread across the team: Jack S, Jack R, Freddie each with one a piece, Jake bagging himself a brace but congratulations go to Charlie for his hat trick! 

The team put in a solid effort throughout, honourable mentions to Eron and Jack O for steering the ship from the back and Will C for a crucial goal line clearance when the scores were still close! 

The boys were a credit to Chailey and immaculately behaved throughout! Onto the next round.

Chailey 8 - OSVA 2

With conditions less than ideal the lads had a challenge on their hands and the session proved to be a great learning experience and some tough lessons were learnt after handling errors and skills not quite being executed to the high standards that our ever growing team now hold themselves too! 

The tries were spread amongst the team as the fixture finished 6-6. Spirits remained high on the journey back! It's a good job that the boys are better at rugby than they are at singing! 

We have had another busy week and as the weather improves it has been great to see our students getting out and about more. Year 7 had a fantastic visit to see Matilda earlier in the week whilst some of our Year 10 girls visited Burgess Hill for their future women event. We also want to thank all the families who took their Year 8 child to work with them last Friday, the pictures further down the bulletin show the wide range of careers out there!
