It was believed that they had to be taken care of, if they were married, their husband was expected to take care of them, and if they were single, their father, brother or male relative would have to take care of them. In those times, the social roles of women were very limited, in general, men expected women to be housewives and mothers- not breadwinners.

Religion in the elizibethan era was Protestant Christianity. Her father Henry was that man that change it to Protestant as he wanted to have a male childbut he couldn’t get it with his current wife. So he tried to send a message to the church without angering the powerful Romen emperor as his current wife. The romen general put the pope got put in prison. So the king Henry changed the church to Protestant but it wasn’t harsh Protestant. The church were allowed to keep some decorations and priests were allowed to stay. Henry had six wives and three children. They were called elisabeth, James and Mary. James when he ruled was harsh Protestant and forced the church to have no decorations after his rule was Mary. Mary was a harsh catholic killing 350 Protestants for heresy and for her whole rule she tried to make the country back to catholic. Elisabeth came and she tried to appease both catholics and Protestant. There was no puritans(harsh Protestants) catholic’s were allowed to miss church services on Sunday but had to pay a fine. The queen changed her name to governess so she could appease the catholic’s in saying she was not the leader of the church.

The main religion in Italy was catholic Christianity as it was the home of the Pope and religion

This caused conflict as Protestants angered the church as the church wanted to make money for more cathedrals and a lot of catholic’s believe in the church as a guide except for the Protestants whole believed the priests were uneducated.
